As the summer heats up, so do our lips
Until they lock in a sweet, sentimental kiss
Your cute smile carries me into my dreams
And the night is never as dark as it seems
Because with you laying by my side
I can hop on a falling star for a midnight ride
These rushes of whimsy fill my mind
With the kind of joy I hope I can find
In that great beyond someday
But I can enjoy it now, anyway
And so for tonight I am at peace
And all my Earthly trouble will momentarily cease
Your cute giggle startles me up
And the smile that accompanies it is cute and abrupt
Laughing in your sleep, you are such a silly pony
But you know I’d want you no other way; you’re my one and only
So we tangle deeper into the sheets together
Even though we’re laying in sweltery warm weather
Oh, how you can make me feel like a young boy again
Restore my laugh and my smile to the way they were then
Because you have brought me back to the simple pleasures
The joys of the heart that money can’t measure
And if there is one thing I can always promise we’ll be
It’s a loving, caring, and joyous family

I will put pen to paper with the utmost inspiration
A summer’s beach glowing in the jovial sun?
I’ll bring it direct to you, my sweetest one
The magic of a midnight skyline?
Just say the word, and it will be thine
Do you you need the universe wrapped up in a bow?
Just say the word, sugar dumpling, and I will make it so
For the love of you, I would fight until I fall

I wouldn’t trade the imperfections
The days where we wonder whether we are right together
Because all true faith must be questioned
And I’m open to suggestions
On how I can fix my imperfections
And even when you try my patience
There is still nowhere else I’d rather be
The frustration makes me love you more
Than I ever did before
For our love, it opens new doors
Through each and every challenge, every bump in the road
Our love keeps growing stronger
With every moment the affection grows
And with that it shows
How you can thrill me from my head to my toes
Our love may seem simple
Like we’re just coasting
But our love is more than just convenience
Or a routine-worn preference
It requires a day to day grace and lenience
So with each time you forgive me for something I said
It’s a little way for you to tell me you love me

I’ve written countless times about your eyes
And yet I still can’t convey their true beauty
They are completely new each morning, in a familiar way
And each time I gaze at them, I find them more breathtaking
Your lips have also been a focus of my affection
And the sweet words muttered from them, as well
Each time our lips are locked together, that is true ecstasy
And with each loving utterance they become sweeter still
Your long brunette locks of luscious hair
Frequently pass through my mind
Like a curtain of polished amber, it accentuates
The beauty and innocence of your countenance
And that smile, the one that means everything to me
Even though you smile daily, it is still too elusive
I must hear that radiant giggle as a constant soundtrack
So that I can, perchance, begin to understand the depth of our love
So forgive me if I fall into cliche
And wax poetic about the same traits over and over
It’s not because I am disinterested

As I pack my bags
Preparing to leave once more
My poor heart is torn to rags
When I kiss you at the door
It can be lonely to be gone
But I will soon return
That you can depend upon
The clock is ticking, and I must be going
Why in the radiating heat of June
Does my soul feel so cold as to believe it’s snowing?
Could it be because I must leave so soon?
Silly heart, don’t you know it’s only a holiday?
We will only be apart a few days
And once I return, for 360 mornings I’ll be in your hooves to stay
So I can leave for vacation happily
Knowing you will be there upon my return
And for eight long hours, just the road and me
I will dream about the loving embrace for which this heart yearns

Why can’t I be a dashing troubadour
And write you sweet love songs
There is no sweeter one a song could be meant for
Why can’t I express that my love is strong
How I’d love to sweep you off your hooves
Give you excitement that you desire
Just so much as thinking it proves
That my passion for you is still on fire
What I’d give to be the type of fetching Casanova
That you could show off to your friends
To be able to take you on that all-inclusive trip to Genoa
And look out from a shore where it seems the Mediterranean never ends
Oh, to be able to toast to your good looks
With a glass of vintage champagne
But even though I have no such luck
You are still beautiful just the same
I can’t wine and dine you like a millionaire
And to my eyes my appearance isn’t much
But I can still tell that you care
In the gentle caress of your touch
So money is nothing
It is of no consequence
Because there’s nothing that wealth could bring
That approaches your magnificence
I’m a wealthy man when you hold me close
And hold your sweet lips near to mine

But my focus stays clear
And as the night drags on
I know it won’t be long
When your visage appears
It dashes all my fears
I’m falling deeper in love
And it fits me like a glove
Why must you tease my senses
My self control winces
When it sees that smug smile
And knows you’ll be here a while
Oh, how you drive me wild
Keeping all of my systems riled
Until the break of the morning sun
Until we’ve had all our fun
As daylight breaks our peace once again

After hectic days and hazy nights
Just trying to get it complete
I feel I need to clear the air
So we each can meet
This has been a drain on me
And thus, has been a drain on us
I know that I have neglected our relationship
And I thank you for not raising a fuss
I know we need to spend more time together
And truly meet once more
But with my Herculean task accomplished
I know there is so much more in store
Thank you for supporting me
For keeping me in high spirits
And thank you for telling me you love me
Because I so needed to hear it

Your unique beauty cannot be beat
The time you spend with me is a precious treasure
I adore it without measure
Just to be near you is my greatest pleasure
So let’s spend this summer together
Soaking in the vitamin d and swealtery weather
And perhaps, come the fall, we will find our hearts have tethered
