Like the crystal blue of a waterfall
Or the glint of the stars at nightfall
The sudden jolt of autumn wind
The storming tempest under which trees bend
Or the serenity of a Sunday morning
The peace that washes over with no warning
Like the steady bobbing of the buoy on the jeweled sea
That is what your love is to me
And just like the sun needs the moon beside
To accompany it on its eternal ride
The reason a flower needs soil to sprout into the sky
Is the same reason that the sight of you brings a tear of joy to my eye
Because everyone needs someone to love
In fact, it’s why we were made by one up above
That’s why I need you to help me stay strong
So that my life and my mission may be long
But most of all, I just need you so that we can be together
And I plan to keep it that way forever

I love how you can be classy and comfortable
In perfect harmony with elegance and grace
Yet cozy and close like a soft blanket
Stylish enough to impress the public eye
But still fun, friendly and approachable
I love the cute dimples at the corner of your lips
That upturn upon your cute smile breaking out
And that dance jovially with your laughter
Such a small and simple feature
But so endearing to my eyes
I love your soft, soothing voice
Like a gentle tide breaking on a warm, golden beach
Or the dainty whisper of a southern breeze
Every time you speak
I am reminded of how fortunate I am
I love your warm, passionate caress
The gentle snuggles that melt away my anxiety
And the shoulder that isn’t ashamed to see a man cry
Whether they be tears of joy, triumph or pain
I take comfort in their acceptance of all
Most of all, I love the sweet mare these traits apply to
Her kind, loving soul, willing to take in the unwanted
Generous enough to give more of herself than she receives of me
Trustworthy enough to share an eternity with

For all the love that we have treasured
I thank you that you stood beside me
When I fought an enemy that you couldn’t see
That you never gave in
And took it on the chin
That you could separate your hurt from my pain
And that you saved our relationship from the strain
And now we can bear our fruit
All our devilish critics lay mute
And to the Father goes the glory
For my redemption, and our love story
And for the final of my thanks
I toast to the most lovely among my ranks

The world seems to get crazier
And my future looks ever hazier

Even as the universe is engulfed in flame
And the world no longer remembers its name

Sail on a smooth sea of tranquility
By thinking about how our future can be

How thankful I am to have you
Your forgiveness has brought me out of darkness
And your love has let me better reflect God’s light
When I wake in the morning, I think of you

When I do amazing things they’re inspired by you
And even the mundane is done to grow closer
Though we may not be physically near

A sweet kiss at midnight
Engulfed in moon glow
A sweet look, just right
Let the feelings flow
The old truck cranks to life
And the radio buzzes in
Romantic impulses still rife
We listen as it sings “how long has it been?…
It seems like a mighty long time”
As the headlights light up the asphalt
We listen to that age old rhyme
And pull into DQ for a malt
Slurping back our chocolatey treat
I can’t help but dream
Will making my life complete
Be as easy as it seems?
Perhaps as easy as a summer night
Sharing love with you in the dark
But no matter where this journey might
Take me, I’ll still embark

As summer draws to a close
The beaches and lakes are bare
As the petals wither away from the rose
And the amber leaves glide down without a care
No one in their right minds would suppose
This would be the setting for a life-changing love affair
But our love is nothing if not a surprise
How can one be lost so completely
In the glance of the other’s eyes?
So let the autumn gales howl
And let old man winter knock on our door
Let the other summer lovers cry fowl
And let the temperatures drop to their floor
We knew the summer had to end somehow
And your beauty in these harsh conditions makes me love you more
No matter the weather I will hold you in my heart
Always to admire you

I hope our love can be immortal
Because I’ve seen the persistence of love
I’ve looked into affection’s cosmic portal
And it’s left me confident
That our connection can stand tall
Never to falter
From the moment we leave the altar
For the rest of all time
With the Father’s consent
It can be all peaches and lime
And we can stick together beyond imagination
Even if for no reason or rhyme
To be promoted from the ranks of the lonely
To holding tightly to my one and only
I know I’m becoming a broken record
But your beauty still amazes
And if the Rubicon I must ford
To see your pretty face
Then pass the life jacket and praise the Lord!
What a blessed revelation
To know this otherworldly jubilation!
I guess our love will last forever
Because half a decade and I still won’t move on
So as soon as we can we’ll pull that matrimonial lever
And some far off day, when we unwrap that platinum bell
