How will our love story unfold?
Will we have grown reserved
Or will our affection be more bold?
Will we be forgotten
Or will our tale be told?
Regardless of the outcome
I’ll be here to shield you from the cold
No matter how difficult it becomes
My devotion will never fold
And we’ll be side by side
With a hoof to hold
Because a body may grow decrepit
But passion never grows old

You come into sight

The enticing fragrance of forbidden love
It’s emotional suede fits me like a glove
And every day and every night I thank the Lord above
For the blessing of this forbidden love
Some would curse it’s need to be covert
Some would assume it would leave them hurt
But rather than leaving a spirit broken in the dirt
It leaves us with assurance, quaint and curt
Sure, it would be thrilling to show the enthrall
And to detail the breadth of a love so tall
But I don’t need transparency at all
We can be ourselves once the curtains fall
So together we will stay, hoof in hoof
Spending summer evenings on the roof
And using the warmth in winter as our proof
That our love will always be a bird in the loof
And so, with this poem’s closing
I am plainly proposing
To remain as quietly affectionate, supposing
That our secrets you can keep from disclosing
I know how difficult this must be
But we also know that one day we will see
The fruition of this secrecy
So please, stand strong and have faith with me

I’m just a blue collar man
But I’ll do everything I can
Just to see that heart melting smile
Just to hold you near for a while
And like the sun can give you a tan
That smile can give joy to this blue collar man
I know my words aren’t in style
And I know that your nerve I sometimes rile
But deep down I’m your biggest fan
You’re the best thing for this blue collar man
And as I trudge down another lonely mile
I think back on you with a wide smile
Although you can’t hold this Valentine close
I still hope I can bring a needed dose
Of love and happiness to what could be gloom
May my words light up like the sun in your room
And though it may not be flawless prose
I hope you find in this poem the beauty of a rose
Hitting us with the force of a sonic boom
And nearly all our vacant moments to consume
A love that envelops us as it grows
And brings a giggle that tickles your nose
As we embrace with the precision of a threaded loom
Knowing this love saved our hearts from lonesome doom
And so in love’s orderly file
Our hearts untangle themselves from their desperate pile
And though our affection they might try to ban
We know that as long as we have imagination we can
Find that favorite song, hooves on the jukebox dial
And get lost in each other’s oceanic eyes a while
So with another Hearts and Hooves at hand
We’ll ring it out like only we can
And like the crisp, white tile
We’ll try to keep our passions mild
At least, as long as we can

Like the wild prairie flower
Your beautiful love came to me
And it knocked me flat on my back
Until I got up and said beautiful words to you
On bended knee
Now we’re a few years removed
From that lovely day
And we’re still rock solid
Hoof to heart, soul to soul
We’ve never changed our way
I’d still be proud of you
Even if you did me wrong
Even if I felt betrayed
I’d still scribe you a poem
And make it a sentimental song
And through all these years
You’ve never turned your back on me
Even though I put tears in your eyes
And doubt in your soul

So now our dynamic is different

Like the cherry blossoms in the spring
I want our hearts to mesh
I want to feel that love again in my soul
Stirring up my childish emotions
And around in our feelings all night we can roll
Your kiss that of a flower-scented breeze
How I have yearned for its poignancy
Because it refreshes our emotions with ease
The snuggly support of your loving embrace
Keeping me sane in a crazy world
So that the hardship that surrounds me I can face
I have needed our late night talks
Rendezvous under the navy moonlight
So that I may keep my upright walk
And I require your love
So that I might one day
Meet with you above
We are far from perfect, you and I

Passion flames in the inky black
Love’s arrow sharp as a tack
Falling into a beautiful abyss
Eyes coated in a sentimental mist
A moment lost in relentless pursuit
Of love that bears sweet fruit
One instant more, before morning breaks
Under nightfall, before the world wakes
Just a kiss, then up and gone
Separated by that great beyond
But the next night, soft and sweet
You’re waiting in the midnight heat
