Fun fact, my RL fiends and I use the word, "beanie babies" as a insult. It's a poor quality product people buy up because "Lol isn't being a geek so cool", with people buying them thinking they're going to shoot up in value, when they totally aren't. Hence the beanie baby insult, they think they're going to have value when they're not. There's just so many of them, and they really just clutter stores. They're also just a problem at conventions because they cause so much traffic. Who seriously asked for Golden Girl vinyl toys? I honestly debate how successful they really are cause I can't say I've seen many in the wild... like maybe two. they just seem more forced than anythingExactly, that too. They take up so much shelf space, when you really only have normies wanting the Darth Vader one, or just the popular stuff. No one is seriously buying any of the niche stuff. Not to mention, everyone on /toy/ hates them because of the amount of space they take up in stores, pushing out actual product. Like this No single product line should take up that much shelf space. Not to mention Funko's quality as a whole, they're awful. Foolish stores bought a ton of Funkos, and now can't sell them it seems RE: What really grinds your gears? - Rares - 11-08-2017 (11-08-2017, 03:20 PM)Gray Wrote: I don't think they ever get sold, that's why there's a thousand taking up entire wall. Like I said, the only people who buy them are A) those who are incredibly obsessed with the fad, and B) normies who only want the very popular characters and don't touch anything else. I had an annoying experience dealing with one of the obsessed guys when I worked at Target last summer. He was looking for an exclusive we didn't have, kept asking me to "check the back" (you know, "the back" is not a magical wonderland that has everything that isn't on shelves) and then asked me if employees were hiding them. I'm like, if I was trying to hide them for myself, why would I tell him? RE: What really grinds your gears? - Fiction - 11-13-2017 I'm late here, but I think people love them because most of them are cute as hell. but I agree, I've seen very few outside a store. Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! They changed it at a very basic level to try to make it fast enough to compete with Chrome. What this seems to mean in practice is that above and beyond the expected interface changes - and they're not for the better, some things I used all the time aren't merely moved, but totally gone - but some of my most-used add-ons are incompatible with the new version. And despite them claiming it's faster, it's actually taking longer to load pages than before. I'll give them a week or so to iron out what may be bugs, but if it's not fixed I'm going to hunt for a new browser. What do you use? |
