Just have them invite you next time. That should solve it.

My teacher must've spotted me sitting the one time, because some douche was later brought in to explain how I ought to - or was allowed to - behave during it.
People talk about showing respect towards your flag and country out of appreciation for the freedoms you enjoy, but apparently you don't have the freedom not to appreciate those freedoms... Or something. I'd have thought that sitting down and ignoring things was quite fittingly American; we're a nation of butts-in-seats.

I find it creepy too. Especially because a lot of the kids who say it are in elementary school and have little to no idea what the fuck they're saying. Almost seems like brainwashing.
Next time I'm forced to do it, I'll just do a sieg heil to the flag.
