Doesn't do anything to change the fact that you've been fortunate. I don't suppose it ever occurred to you that you might not have been in the position to accomplish some of those things had you a.) either grown up in a shithole or not had someplace to live, b.) suffered from some physical or psychological issue that resulted from poor living conditions and / or malnutrition, c.) lived in a dangerous neighborhood because you couldn't afford to live anywhere else, d.) had to worry constantly that you might lose your home, not have enough food to eat, or have your electricity cut off. This is me empathizing with people who didn't have the economic foundation - or necessarily the choices and opportunities - that you did. It isn't always as simple as "work hard and you'll get ahead." There are individuals who suffer from real economic handicaps, and sometimes there's NO ONE who will fucking help them.
Notice how I'm talking about things like basic necessities? I don't give two shits about how much stuff you have. Why was that even part of your rant? There are people in this country that don't have enough to eat or a roof over their heads. The best damned thing you said / have done was the part about volunteering. At least you recognized the suffering of others and took part in helping to ease that suffering. That's a genuinely decent thing.
But, right up until that point, you were doing the exact same thing I was talking about earlier: The exaltation of wealth. No individual needs to be rich; some people would settle just for having enough. Enough where they don't go hungry and don't become ill or hurt when it might have otherwise been avoidable.
This isn't about you; it's about the people who aren't you. Who, for one reason or another, don't have what you have. Or were able to attain.

My dad owns businesses and invests in others, so his wealth moves around. It's not like they needed money from me, but my dad needed a few grand for some equipment and I don't charge interest like a bank does. And I don't have a specific time he needs to pay me back, like a bank does. It was out of convenience, not necessity.

And it is bullshit; too many of us measure the value of a human being by their bank account. I'm sure there are people who worked every bit as hard as you and still ended up getting screwed over in one way or another. Maybe they helped put a few more bills in the pockets of someone who already had more than they could even spend, but that didn't necessarily benefit them in the end. Economical hardship isn't something you can inoculate yourself against simply by working hard.
