RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Ziggy and Angelbaby - 03-05-2016 (03-05-2016, 03:30 PM)TheWarden Wrote: yeah, im real spoiled. I'm set financially. Not because I worked for it or anything. Im diamond tiara since because my parents are rich, they must give me everything. Even though they borrow money from me.I love how it was the relatively innocuous "Diamond Tiara" comment that set you off. And how you needlessly went to great lengths to demonstrate what a stand-up individual you are. Doesn't do anything to change the fact that you've been fortunate. I don't suppose it ever occurred to you that you might not have been in the position to accomplish some of those things had you a.) either grown up in a shithole or not had someplace to live, b.) suffered from some physical or psychological issue that resulted from poor living conditions and / or malnutrition, c.) lived in a dangerous neighborhood because you couldn't afford to live anywhere else, d.) had to worry constantly that you might lose your home, not have enough food to eat, or have your electricity cut off. This is me empathizing with people who didn't have the economic foundation - or necessarily the choices and opportunities - that you did. It isn't always as simple as "work hard and you'll get ahead." There are individuals who suffer from real economic handicaps, and sometimes there's NO ONE who will fucking help them. Notice how I'm talking about things like basic necessities? I don't give two shits about how much stuff you have. Why was that even part of your rant? There are people in this country that don't have enough to eat or a roof over their heads. The best damned thing you said / have done was the part about volunteering. At least you recognized the suffering of others and took part in helping to ease that suffering. That's a genuinely decent thing. But, right up until that point, you were doing the exact same thing I was talking about earlier: The exaltation of wealth. No individual needs to be rich; some people would settle just for having enough. Enough where they don't go hungry and don't become ill or hurt when it might have otherwise been avoidable. This isn't about you; it's about the people who aren't you. Who, for one reason or another, don't have what you have. Or were able to attain. RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Kaltes-Herzeleid - 03-05-2016 This recent string of comments could basically be summed up with this: RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Fiction - 03-05-2016 Yo warden if your parents are fucking millionaires, why the fuck have they borrowed money from you? RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Fiction - 03-05-2016 (03-05-2016, 04:40 PM)TheWarden Wrote:(03-05-2016, 04:37 PM)Fiction Wrote: Yo warden if your parents are fucking millionaires, why the fuck have they borrowed money from you? oh okay [insert plea for money here] RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Ziggy and Angelbaby - 03-05-2016 (03-05-2016, 04:24 PM)TheWarden Wrote: Tell me exactly how much of what I earned other people deserve and why. Why should I be punished for working hard for what I have?First, I need you to explain something to me that I have always been perplexed by. Why are the people that have MORE seemingly less willing to part with any of it than people who have LESS? I consider it a comparatively greater act of generosity to give away something you have when you've less to give, overall. It's the most fortunate that seem to cling the hardest to material things. And where, exactly, did I threaten to take anything away from you? I never said I was entitled to anything that you had. I was never even arguing in favor of communism; never so much as used the damn word. I do, however, feel that someone who's in a position to help someone less fortunate than themselves had ought to fucking do it. Had ought to want to do it. Because it strikes me as, Idunno, the right thing to do. There are some people that don't even have enough for themselves, and then there are people that have enough for a LOT of someones. Capitalism does not breed this attitude. Not unless you've been in a position where you had to do without. If enough of the "haves" take the stance of "mine mine mine," it only ensures that the "have nots" will remain right where they are in this bullshit economic hierarchy. And it is bullshit; too many of us measure the value of a human being by their bank account. I'm sure there are people who worked every bit as hard as you and still ended up getting screwed over in one way or another. Maybe they helped put a few more bills in the pockets of someone who already had more than they could even spend, but that didn't necessarily benefit them in the end. Economical hardship isn't something you can inoculate yourself against simply by working hard. I said "other people", who you are arguing in favor of.If it's just money we're talking about, I'm in favor of helping people who genuinely need it. Or, at the very damned least, not ignoring them or making their lives even more difficult than they might already be. (03-05-2016, 04:45 PM)TheWarden Wrote: Other than that, i'm tired. You can stay mad at me or think i'm jerk for not giving away what I earn. I really don't care at the moment. I gotta work tomorrow. Good Night my sweet prince. If I think you're a jerk, it isn't for not giving away what you earn. If I think you're a jerk, it'd be for downplaying the hardships of others that you've never personally experienced. That, and behaving as though your path to economic success is available to absolutely everyone. RE: Random thoughts post 'em - EquestrianPenguin - 03-06-2016 Damn it Warden XD RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Kadae - 03-06-2016 Holy shoot, that's a mountain of text. RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Kaltes-Herzeleid - 03-06-2016 Pig Benis. RE: Random thoughts post 'em - Kaltes-Herzeleid - 03-07-2016 I've discovered I really like looking at artwork of beautiful and at times unearthly scenery and landscapes. |
