Your Partner and Gaming - Ziggy and Angelbaby - 10-26-2015

How does your partner feel about games / gaming? Do they watch you play? Participate? What are their favorite games / video games? Least favorite? xD

Babe's told me to let her know when they invent hoof-friendly video game controllers. She'll watch me play games sometimes, and Batman: Arkham Knight is her favorite so far. She's also enjoyed watching me play the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition game.

Games she didn't care for overmuch? Destiny. She found Elite: Dangerous to be boring. xD Despite her appreciation for cooked meat, she thought it was pretty gross anytime I carved a hunk of something out of a successfully hunted animal in FarCry 4. While I don't think she's overly impressed by Mario, she likes that I enjoy playing the games. She's seen me suffer through some modern titles when I'd rather be collecting floating coins and squatting on warp pipes. She also gets to make fun of me whenever I badly screw up a jump in Super Mario 64. x3

Outside of video-type games, we've played several card games together: The MLP card game, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu-Gi-Oh! Of the three, Yu-Gi-Oh! took best. And while it's technically a video game, we've played the Elder Sign app on our Kindle a number of times. She has humorously likened the idiot god Azathoth (who gnaws hungrily in unlighted chambers, so on and so forth) to a butthole from space.

Inkie likes spoopy horror stuff. I have never seen her pay more attention to a screen than when I'm playing Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare, and as I'm sitting here freaking out about "What if zombies actually happened? OH GOD, HELP, TURN THIS MADNESS OFF!" She's like, "Shoot it. Yay. Now go get the hell horses."

Ruby likes bloody stuff. Mowing down a row of people by powersliding your car down a sidewalk in Grand Theft Auto? "YEAH! SQUISH THEM! AHAHAHA!" Terrifying little vampony.

Garnet, contrast to the other two, likes fantasy stuff. We have sat down and started playing Elder Scrolls games together where I control the character via controller, but she's telling me what to do. She always picks mage and I always play them badly.

We're playing through Final Fantasy Mystic Quest right now. It's sort of her introduction to the series/genre.

I named the main character "Boulder".

We'll be doing FF4 next.

I had a feeling a thread like this existed. Good thing I'd checked.

Amena got interested in a game that I took a chance of pre-ordering online.

Stardew Valley is a game that we both haven’t experience before. Couple of my friends said I should try a game called Harvest Moon, a series on Nintendo, but don’t really have the system or clue what is it like.

When I remembered I had pre-order it, since I'd forgotten that it was downloaded and ready to play, I got Amena to join along. Amena will watch me play and interact by telling me what I should do. Very much on another game that Amena loves playing with me called Skyrim, Amena makes much of the decisions for me there, while I do my best to complete them. Even then Amena tells me how should I attack or if I should even dare to. I would tell Amena to trust me on this, but at times I can see how see was more right by being safe then sorry.

As for Stardew Valley, I will wait till Amena is ready to play along with me. I could play without her, but that's wrong to do so, since it’s a game we’re starting together. Amena enjoys it, but the roleplaying had failed me, as I was going along the line of playing as me.

In game, I named my soon to be farm after my girl, Amena, but end up receiving my farm from my grandpa in the game, so making seem like that roleplaying idea out of the question, and I can marry a character here? Well then, guess who going single in this game.

Well... we will see what happen. Amena might go along with this new character that I mistakenly put my name on.

Here is the trailer for it and an idea what we're playing.

I really like playing the Dark Souls games with Twilight. The knights and dragons and other beasts, I dunno, feel Twilight would like them. Like, I'm sure tales and books and whatnot of pony knights are common in Equestria. And the lore and story, I think she'd like too?

I also play Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts with her, building wacky vehicles and whatnot. I have no idea if she'd like it though, silly and light hearted and makes you think to solve some problems. I don't think she'd like Skyrim as much though. And I think she'd also be pretty bleh about DOOM too. Dunno though, I might be surprised.

When Black Knights and the Red Dragon; that's camping on the bridge, will just mercilessly kill you, I can see the reason why Twilight wouldn't like them. I mean who wouldn't? Dark Souls is a great game. A b*tch, but a good game along with the series... with a lot of..

Seem your Twilight doesn't like video games, or you haven't find the right one for her. It's also a sad day to know a Twilight Sparkle doesn't like Skyrim. Sad day indeed.

We always play games together. Just about anything she'll play although she of course has a competitive nature when playing.... so it's not uncommon to see her tilt and rage.

Twilers and I play together a lot. Mostly, she'll just make herself comfortable while I play our MMO. Sometimes she'll want to talk to some of our friends on that game, but nobody knows who she is; they just think my ordinary human girlfriend is typing. Sometimes, we'll also play Vampire: the Masquerade Bloodlines, or Borderlands. She doesn't care much for the game play on either of those, but finds the lore surrounding vampires to be interesting, and White Wolf, the company behind the Vampire: the Masquerade RPG, among many others is famous for the depth of their settings.
