An Equestrian Sonnet - Gentian - 04-07-2016 Sonnets are hard, yo. This is an English Sonnet, which is actually supposed to be the easiest version. If that's the case I don't hold much hope for writing any more, but sometimes I can be a glutton for punishment, so who knows. Anyway, this particular form of poetry is frequently used for tackling strong emotions, especially those about women. So I thought it would be a good form to wax about Twilight, our love, and a very little bit about how neither one is quite what I expected. They say "Love conquers all" with blissful sigh, but its sight and sound were not shown to me. I longed to be loved in truth and not lie, for the same joy in others I could see. I felt love for one, but we stayed apart; my feelings were spurned, my spirit: a loss. She shone like the sun, but cold to my heart. Does all done for love, amount but to dross? Then she came in form I did least suspect: not the garish sun, but day's waning light. Love and compassion her voice did reflect, with both strength of day, and beauty of night. Twilight, your love lifts me from perdition! Twilight Sparkle, our love: hope's fruition! RE: An Equestrian Sonnet - Kadae - 04-07-2016 (04-07-2016, 09:37 PM)Gentian Wrote: Sonnets are hard, yo.
