Stereotypes about your Waifu - EquestrianPenguin - 12-16-2016 What are some stereotypes and/or misconceptions about your Waifu or partner? Spitfire is viewed as a harsh pony who doesn't care about the well being of her teammates to a lot of people in the MLP community. A majority of people question why I love some mean pony like her. Which is a shame because they can't see how great and kind she really is. What about you guys? RE: Stereotypes about your Waifu - 7bloom - 12-16-2016 I feel you, pengu. It can be annoying, seeing so many people just not get it. Apple Bloom's more thoughtful and sweet traits seem mostly lost on the a lot of the fandom, who usually seems to just shallowly see her as a naive, young child and nothing more. It's common for people to think of her as simply boring and uninteresting, and believe she has a one-track mind and only thinks about cutie marks, like it's all there is to her. Actually thinking about her thoughts and feelings, there's a lot depth even to how she views cutie marks, with common comments about finding out who she is and who she's meant to be. I can't remember how many times I've been asked by people, who only see her as boring, to explain myself for liking her and an episode of hers. If the interrogator isn't being mean, I'm usually happy to explain and fawn over her and what I see in her, anyway. I know they're not trying to offend, and if I can get someone else to begin to see how wonderful she is, that's a very nice thing. RE: Stereotypes about your Waifu - Pacifist - 12-16-2016 I think people exaggerate Maud's passion for geology. Yes, she likes rocks a lot, and studies them, but it's not the obsession people paint it as. She has other interests. Also, she does have normal feelings, like everypony else. She just doesn't express them in the same way most others do. RE: Stereotypes about your Waifu - Rares - 12-16-2016 I guess the biggest thing would be that either she's considered to be a selfish bitch, or how people think she, well, goes around a lot so to say. Those kinds of thoughts used to really bother me, but honestly now I just kind of feel like if that's what people see her as, it's their loss. Sure I get a little hurt, but that's how I accept things. The most widely spouted memes are her, ah, supposed promiscuity, and penchant for melodrama, but selfishness? Seriously? Seriously?Yeah, you wouldn't believe half the arguments I've seen, and this isn't cases of dumb shitposting. Things like Sweet and Elite or Sonic Rainboom are pointed to as to why she's horribly selfish, which I just think is ridiculous. Even in a Rarity thread someone was saying how Sweet and Elite made her look awfully selfish. Oh, and "conning Spike out of the gem" is always on that list. This kind of stuff has gone down a lot I'd say, but still, that's gotta be some of the craziest things I've seen. RE: Stereotypes about your Waifu - glimee - 05-27-2017 That she's a dimensionless character that only ever makes mistakes and doesn't try to improve herself at all. RE: Stereotypes about your Waifu - hysterical_cub - 05-27-2017 oh man... my waifu is literally an unemotional husk of a pone to everyone else... like in the eyes of everyone, she could never be anything but a rock... but I know she's different ❤ RE: Stereotypes about your Waifu - whobawhats - 05-31-2017 (05-27-2017, 03:59 AM)glimee Wrote: That she's a dimensionless character that only ever makes mistakes and doesn't try to improve herself at all.I would really have to agree with this. In addition I would have to say another is that she doesn't care about her friends and is just using them to keep herself from going off to tartarus or something of the like. And that deep down she is an evil pony who only cares about herself. She might not be all that close with the M6, but there is no doubt that she has a desire to better herself, evidenced by her determination despite any obstacle, and also by her genuine happiness when she accomplishes something for herself. I just can't imagine that she's faking it all. |
