Entertainment Tonight has revealed the plot and details about the upcoming G5 movie, as well as a screenshot showing what the CGI animation will look like!

There are two big factors playing into whether or not I will see this film:
1.) Availability. If this movie gets locked down like Fort Knox and any clips of it get copywrite struck immediately, I will probably never see the entire film. I don’t dignify streaming-only releases with my box office earnings, as I value physical theaters. If we are going to kill off physical theaters, then in my mind, you might as well kill off the concept of a theatrical film. Also, I don’t have access to Netflix, and I’m not switching away from Prime because of the other benefits it includes (free shipping, mostly).
2.) Messaging. This one is a bit awkward, but Hasbro brought it up, not me - if the show is too political, or if early sneak peaks are really political in tone, I’m not going to watch it. I’ve had enough political outrage for a century in the span of about a decade, and frankly I’m unable to put up with brainwashing material anymore. Pony was always a pleasant escape for me from the problems of the real world, and I don’t want to watch it get weighed down with woke garbage. I will give this film a chance because I still love a lot about what I’ve seen so far (characters are cute and the synopsis so far seems divergent enough from real life), but if it takes a turn for the typical plot that shoves modern leftism down your throat I’m going to have to take a rain check.
Either way, these characters seem fun (at least in the design aspect), and I know they can’t ruin MLP for me. I’ve had too great a time with Gen 4 to let anything, even the worst sequel possible, ruin it for me.

So far, everything we have seen it seems pretty cute! I will for sure watch.
I am a bit worried about potential heavy handed political commentary. I don't have any issues with the likely anti-racism message, its a good message, but if its obviously a real world parallel then it will be annoying. I watch ponies for the cute wholesomeness, and to get away from the real world.
I also hope they handle the history well. It seems obvious that g4 mane 6 are probably all gone. Maybe Twilight is still around, but I kind of hope she isint because if the world is now segregated with no more friendship, it means she kinda failed as a princess.

Yeah I agree with these sentiments, I'd much rather the show doesn't try to make its messaging overly political. Having friendship lessons was really nice in FiM and those are timeless, but political jazz ages horribly and makes for a much less light-hearted tone. We get way too much of that stuff everywhere else nowadays, I hope it doesn't bleed into pony.
I'm down for some cute horses doing cute things and going on cute adventures.

Gotta agree with you guys, so far I’m pretty hyped. LOVE the fact that Sunny is a Brony, it just confirms for me the amount of respect the show staff have for this fandom. I really hope that translates over to the show.

I was nervous when I read the initial press release because 'diversity and inclusion' can be a very hard topic to cover well in this sort of format (and especially in this political climate). That being said, everything else looks and sounds great so far. The designs are super cute, especially the lil tufts of floof they have above their hooves.

I am curious how they will handle a male main character. I totally see why they did it. They know now that males are probably the biggest demographic they have now. So logic would be to give your target demographics more representation. Obviously id prefer all cute mares, but I just hope theres no annoying romance plots between him and the other main mares. I hope he's a dork like sunburst and the later iterations of flash sentry. dork colts are cute. or if hes a mega chad the only mares he pulls are secondary characters.
