Now, on the topic of government, lying is a part of politics, it's built on bargaining and persuasion, that's the core of it. Sure, the government does things that are shitty and really bad choices, yes, the past near twenty years have been problematic, violent, bloody, tough, and emotional. No, I don't stand for the pledge of allegiance each day due to how I feel about some heavier topics. But, I do like living here, we have a lot of freedoms and things to enjoy, our system has flaws, but every countries government has flaws, the UK's parliament has broken out into full out brawls in meetings, as recent as last year, at least Congress doesn't fist fight with each other. I support the military and those who serve, even if I don't agree with the conflict, I feel joining the military is a great honor that should be honored. I don't expect you to fee as I do, just throwing my pengu hat in the ring.

joining the army is an honor. i will shit on the president. but a soldier who protect the innocent will always be respected

I respect our soldiers, but not the cause. Unfortunately, our stupid leaders see the soldiers as nothing more than game pieces.

But I still feel bad for those who still think they're protecting us. Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

If that is what you consider "fucked up" you must live in a very thick bubble.

True. there are way worse things going on in the world.

Though I don't think anyone woulda expected Robin Williams to have killed himself, or Bill Cosby to have been a rapist.

I rarely judge Congress or the President or any part of the government. Mainly because I will never know what they knew, never feel what they felt, and never think what they thought when they made their choices. I am not naive enough to use what I believe as a way to measure weather a politician does a "good" job or not. Using your own opinions as a compass to judge politicians is rather narcissistic and selfish. Sure, I may openly disagree with some things, but I never think they are doing a "bad" job or not as an elected official. It is not my call to make. They were elected by the people, and I usually don't waste my time getting angry over things they do. The country has been going fine for the past 200 plus years, and any problems that come up will be fixed in some way, as they always have, and always will. So i don't worry too much about things. Not to mention most people who bitch about politics don't know what they are talking about when it comes to how government/economics/politics/history works. You know who I mean.

And if you talk to me personally, you'll know i do get rather heated when talking about elections. That is a bit different, because what I say can change potential voters (I am not naive enough to think that it will change much anyway) ,where as bitching about people currently in office is a waste of time and I have better things to do. Also, I usually don't apply this "don't judge/argue because you are not in their shoes : )" logic to regular people i interact with, because they don't have legal authority over me, and I can actually discuss with them directly, whereas I had to go thru alot of trouble just to see the president with my own eyes. I am also not saying I follow my own advice perfectly or expect you to. Sometimes i worry about shit I can't change, humans have a hard time not doing so.

Tldr/General life advice: We can change very little in the world and our opinions are not very important in the grand scheme of things, so stop complaining about every major thing you have no control over.

Yeah. We have a puny, hopeless existence, no matter what we do.

But I still love complaining :3.

I'm one of those idiots you mentioned who has no idea how the government works, but waging war (like our government really loves to do) never does any good.

Human history mainly centers around two things:

The Movement of Humans.
And war.

War being "good" (Which I think it can be) or not is very subjective. What matters is that war is one of the most important things humans have ever done or will do. It is a huge reason technology is as advanced as it is. It is the reason we have the countries and factions, whether political, religious, or economic, like we do. It is the driving force of change. If there was never war, humanity would be unrecognizable. Weather that is good or not is completely subjective and frankly irrelevant. War is a staple of the human species. Placing the blame on simply government is ignoring who we are as a species.

Saying humanity wouldn't be here without war is also subjective.

Sounds crazy, but I think we'd be more advanced if it wasn't for the setback of war.

I did not say that, I said we would be unrecognizable. Not literally in terms of physical appearance, I meant we would be very different in terms of culture and technology.

I know, I meant here as in where we are now.

I kinda wish I had a better signature on here to be honest.

War is a thing that has shaped cultures, countries, and history, without war humanity would t be close to what it is today. We'd all be the same and have the same culture, war is a thing humans have done since we began its natural. Yes it's hard, violent, bloody, and sad at times, but, it's what is necessary to reach political changes and diplomatic changes in the world.

I bought a Jerry Lee Lewis vinyl at the book market today, but I only just found out how incredibly scratched it is. My fault for forgetting to check the record on the spot. Since that's the case, I'm going to see if I can turn it into some sort of art project. Twilight Smile
