My favorite quote is probably:

It recall it whenever I feel myself becoming to attached to things.
Another is:

Supposedly, monks would keep a skull in their cells, so that they would always have a reminder of their mortality at hand if they started to become ambitious, or willful. They would touch the skull and repeat that to themselves.
When I find myself thinking I know the best way to do things, or start imaging grand designs for the future, I remember this anecdote.
