The sakura have just started to bloom, so Twilight and I decided it would be a nice day to visit the park. As you can see, Twilers is quite fond of flowers. Since we decided to walk, we first went to a small park.
This is in the same small park again. There were some sakura, but they weren't in bloom. Fortunately, the ume were, and TwiTwi thought they were as pretty as I did.
We finally made it to the big park. It wasn't a long walk, and Twilight was snuggled in my jacket with her head poking out of the zipper so she could see. It was nice having her so close. Here she is at a statue in the park. It's clouds and rain, and if you look at it right, is supposed to resemble a shower over the lake behind it. It's an interesting idea!
Deeper into the park, and I was struck by a camellia bush. Twi agreed to sit in it for the pic.
Twilight is fascinated by our machinery and technology. They were doing some work on a path in the park, and Her Royal Twiness wanted a picture. I was only too happy to oblige!
We found some sakura! They're only just beginning to bloom, so most of the trees are still just buds and twigs. This one had flowers, but they're still quite small.
That other sakura tree in the background of pic 6? Yeah, Twilers wanted to get a better look at it, so here she is, up close and personal with the flowers.
There is also a lake with some koi. In the spring, the city used to suspend a cable over it, and hang numerous 3, maybe even 4 meter long fish-shaped flags called koinobori from it. They stopped doing that, unfortunately, so Twi and I had to content ourselves with the actual koi. Don't tell her, but this pretty lake is also the discharge point for the local water treatment plant.
Here she is admiring more flowers. These are small, as you can see, but very fragrant. While she was taking them in, I decided my princess needed a crown, so I made her one.
Same as number 9, but closer. Words don't do her justice.
My princess "hiding" in the daffodils. So cute!
We went a little further along, and Twi decided I needed a flower of my own!!
If you don't know, when a mare wants to court someone, it's tradition to give them a flower that matches her coat. Purple flowers are hard to find here, but she did. This is her belatedly asking me to be her very special someperson, in a very Equestrian way.
A closer-up view of the previous pic. My little princess, formally expressing her love.
And that's it. There are more pics, but these tell enough about our day. We hope yours was as nice as ours was.
