Sort of. Really, just a nice dinner together after work. Everyone seemed to enjoy our park-day photos so much that I decided to bring along a camera tonight. Hopefully, you all will like these too.
Normally, I'm pretty busy. Somehow, the stars aligned this week, and I've had time to take Twilers to the park, and get off early tonight. Since I was busy for Easter, and blowfish season is coming to a close, we decided to take advantage of my free time by going out for it one last time. Did you know some ponies eat seafood? Now you do. It's pegai, generally, but since getting her wings, Twilight has been trying to expand her palate, and is practically an omnivore now; she LOVES blowfish!
So here we are, just sitting down at the restaurant. We were looking over the drink menu. Well, I was; she kept smiling at me. Absolutely beaming! There was no way I could let that gorgeous smile pass while I had a camera at the ready!

Decisions, decisions! When we came last week, it was the first time either of us had tried blowfish. We weren't sure what to get, but because of time constraints, instead of ordering a meal set, we chose a couple things from the menu that looked delicious. They were, of course, but one of them really stood out! It was called Fukubutsu, and we both wanted it again. Unfortunately, none of the sets included it. So, even though there was no rush this time, we decided a gallimaufry of goodies was the preferred approach.

Drinks arrived! It turns out, Twilight doesn't share my enthusiasm for beer. Fortunately, I drink it for the taste, and so always have plenty of water on hand to cleanse my palate, and wash down the food. This way, a single beer can last me the entire meal, and I can focus on and enjoy each element, including the beer in it's proper turn. Water is the actual "drink" for both of us.

Her Royal Twiness may not enjoy beer, but she does like potato salad. Potato salad with blowfish, is pure decadence. Eat up, Princess!
I'm not really happy with the way this picture turned out, but you never know for sure until after the fact. I decided to include it so it could be contrasted with the next one. You'll see what I mean.

See? It's darker. I was fooling around with the settings so as not to disturb the other customers with my flash. Nobody said anything, or even gave me the stinkeye, but it would have been rude not to consider their evening as well.
This is fugusushi. Blowfish sushi. Very good! And also the prettiest piece of sushi I've ever seen. The food-artistry is incredible, and that little leaf visible through the fish is as delicious as it is aesthetic. Fit for royalty!

The other customers finished and left, so the flash came back. Just in time too, because our food arrived. Here, TwiTwi is enjoying her fukubutsu. I'm starting on a nice plate of tessa. This is all blowfish, by the way. There are so many ways of preparing it, but in my admittedly limited experience, the cooked stuff tastes like a generic, mild white fish. Raw blowfish, on the other hand, has a mild flavor too, but the texture is mind-blowing! Without a doubt, raw is the way to go, so while we sampled a variety of dishes tonight, they were all raw.

This is the door of the restaurant. I wanted to take this before we went in, but since we had no reservation, and the place was very busy, I didn't know if we'd get a table. It would have been funny, but not in a good way if I'd taken the pic, and then not been able to eat, so I got it on the way out, instead.
Those lockers inside are for your shoes, and to the left of the door there is a board with lacquered blowfish fins displayed on it. I was told it used to be a qualification of sorts. Since blowfish is toxic, and will kill you if prepared incorrectly, the board was a way of saying to potential customers "I've made this many meals, and haven't killed anyone yet! You're safe with ME as your chef." Which is why, to this day, you'll see one like it in front of almost every restaurant that serves blowfish.
Immediately inside, there is a fish tank on the left. Last week there were a few blowfish swimming around, and Twilers had already agreed to pose in front of it. However, when we got in, all the fish were gone, and who'd want a pic of an empty tank?
