An episode a day

S4E9 Pinkie Apple Pie

I think this was another really good one, possibly one of the better non-Rarity episodes I've seen. The song is great, the moral of family is great, the way they act is very entertaining, honestly this one was very good to follow up my favorite all time episode with. I feel like the episode just is casual, it does feel like a simple road trip for the family. All in all an exemplary episode. If I were to have feelings for any of these ponies, this very well might have been my favorite episode instead.

Although, it does bring up:

I agree with you, that episode is a good one.

That comic though.

Well unless you have proof of two earth ponies who aren't related I must be inclined to believe they all are cousins.

S4E10 Rainbow Falls

I guess this one was alright, though I felt like it could have handled the theme of testing Rainbow Dash's loyalty a bit better, I don't feel like it was as best as Rarity Takes Manehattan in that field, compared to this. I mean, what Spitfire did really didn't come off as good at all. All in all though, it was alright.

S4E11 Three's a Crowd

Someone want to explain to me why Twilight and Cadence were more concerned about making Discord feel better rather than immediately going up to check up on Rarity and Applejack after Discord said he infected them because I'd really like to have that justified to me k thanks
[Image: oMeB93c.png]

I suppose this is going to start marking the trend of crappy Discord episodes, isn't it? I mean his actions aside, and the fact that Twilight and Cadence were more concerned about the well-being of a monster over her friends I still can't really get past that little itty bitty plot hiccup, it just wasn't a good episode. It takes half of the episode to occur in order for the plot of "Discord just starts to troll Twilight" to be set up and happen, when it really could have occurred so much more sooner. Prior to the rewatch, I thought "Well at least it has a catchy song I think?" but honestly the song wasn't much to stand on it's own aside from pop culture memes, especially compared to the 2, no 3 fantastic songs that recently proceeded it, this really felt like it fell flat and was uninteresting. I mean I guess the episode works if you're totally into "It was merely a social experiment male sibling of mine!" stuff, but aside from that, Discord has already quite worn off his "redeemed" welcome and honestly is completely unjustifiable at this point.

Also I do feel like mentioning how creepy it is that he keeps appearing in Fluttershy's window in the opening. It looks unsettling.

"Animation error" they say, they don't know what the hell they're talking about. Why this almost makes up for yesterday's episode.

Oh right, there's much more to the episode instead of of just that.

This is a musical episode done perfectly in my book. Not that it's a perfect episode, but the organization with the singing is what I'm referring to. It has a great flow to it. This, along with Rarity Takes Manehattan, is definitely on the better end of these "key" episodes, and like RTM, stands well without it. I also think the use of Weird Al as a guest star didn't feel forced in. I also liked how Maud was already introduced, 5 episodes before her proper introduction. And the connection between Cheese and Pinkie was very sentimental and I found it extremely sweet. All in all a fantastic episode, and great on Pinkie. Honestly I'm shocked this was written by Amy Keating Rogers, I feel she's the one who often writes Pinkie poorly as "lol random" too much.

S4E13 Simple Ways

I suppose I had to get it over with eventually. Well I mean it doesn't really bother or hurt me like it used to, but it's definitely not a pleasant experience. I guess I'll start with the positive. Despite... other feelings for this episode, I feel like it has one of the most powerful and applicable lessons in the entire series. That being, if someone doesn't want to take the oppurtunity to get to know you and appreciate you for who you are, it's their loss, and you should never go out of your way to please them because they don't deserve it. I also think Tabitha St. Germain has a fantastic range, and her portrayal of Rari is still always great. Other than that, well this isn't really a pleasant experience to watch. Obvious reasons aside, it feels like it relies way too heavily on that cringe humor of characters heavily embarrassing themselves, which I never enjoy, and Trenderhoof comes off as a generic, awfully dis-likable hipster anyway. And less Rarity/Applejack stuff for the love of god.

It's not the absolute worst episode, heck it doesn't even make me angry. And the lesson does make up for a lot. But that doesn't make me feel better about the whole thing. At least it's dealt with.

S4E14 Filli Vanilli

This was a really great one, I felt like it was a wonderful one on Fluttershy's character, and it definitely didn't hurt to have some wonderful moments with Rarity too, and how supportive she is of her friends and tries to help them with what's best for them. The songs were great in this one too, as well as the callback to one of the earliest episodes. I must say however, Pinkie did seem slightly OOC this episode, almost borderline mean to Fluttershy at times with how she said things. But that one gripe aside, everything else is great in this one, and it's probably one of the best non Rarity ones for me.

S4E15 Twilight Time

This one was alright. Not much I found too notable about this one, just that Twilight was pretty cute in it if anything. And while I would normally point out a problem that "why are they only just now noticing Twilight is a princess" then again they are fillies and were probably actually not aware of such things depending on how word goes around. So I guess this one gets a pass in my book.

You stole the 100th post of my thread, how could you? Despairing Rarity

S4E16 It Ain't Easy Being Breezies

Wow. Breezies are dicks. This episode I didn't really find that good, and it just seemed like a way to force breezies into the show because Hasbro had toys of them? Or maybe because Fluttershy mentioned them in a prior episode? Whichever the reason, the breezies sit as definitely some of the worst creatures in Equestria. And the transformation into breezies serves absolutely no purpose to the story, other than to fill up time, and was completely unnecessary. All in all, I don't think this episode was insultingly bad or anything, I just didn't find it meaningful. Filli Vanilli was a far better Fluttershy episode.
