Poems for the Sweetest of Ponies
#21
How did I ever find you?
How was our love born?
How were you able to see through
My broken exterior of thorns?

Was it how I glanced your way
The first time our eyes did meet?
Was it the words you knew I longed to say
Even though my statements were incomplete?

Perchance it was all in semantics
And you loved something inexplicable?
Or perhaps we were both hopeless romantics
Hoping for, and being granted, the impossible?

Whatever it was, my dear
I thank God now every day
That you alleviated my fears
And that you sent your love my way

Are you taking a class or something? These poems keep getting better and better!

The bigger you build the bonfire, the more darkness is revealed.

Every possession and every happiness is but lent by chance for an uncertain time, and may therefore be demanded back the next hour.

Nope. I took a class in high school, but that's been years ago. Thanks for the compliment.

Her wing was like a summer night
Shielding me in silent warmth
Her eyes were glassy apertures
To see our shared amour

Her whispers were the most unreal
A magical embrace
She whispered me to silence then
And dreams of pearl lace.
~~~
She is no lofty goal.
Wow. That is gorgeous imagery. This is what love looks like, folks.
I need to echo CP'sSL here, gorgeous imagery. The first two lines in particular.
A magic lantern moon rose up.
It’s shining through the trees
She glances back into my eye;
She knows that she is free.
A whisper flying through the leaves
Alights upon a stump
She gives a nice big grin and says
“I wouldn’t give you up!”
---
I laughed and cried and fell apart
She caught my pieces, made an art
Inlay, filigree, golden lines
Only she had read the signs.
I intended it to be an exercise in metaphorical imagery, so thanks for bringing that up!
You really have a good way with words, Raptor. I love how you write, and I'm certain Rainbow loves these too.
Many thanks! I have a bit of trouble conveying emotions through prose, so I've been writing poetry off and on for about a year now. I've only recently been seeing a marked improvement though, and I think I have a certain somepony to thank for that...
A complex pony, or godly horse
A little flutter, or sonic force
She's my constant, always true
She's my Dashie, she's my Muse!
Well then I definitely think your work has really paid off then, keep it up, without a doubt!
