Ok so I'm not gonna start an argument for or against any one nation or anything.
This is about discussing how you would prefer to be governed and why.
Do you feel the communism unites the common working man to make him part of something bigger? Do you support capitalism and believe it provides the best opportunity to make yourself more than a peasant?
Do you like something different? That's what I'm asking.
As for me. I prefer actually something like the federation in star trek. You know we each work in a job that we work hard at for the advancement of us all and that field rather than being motivated by greed. I believe all jobs should pay equally and that our laws should protect the citizen instead of disarming him to make him vulnerable to criminals.

I am almost entirely apolitical in the conventional sense, because I believe that no system can truly regulate the human soul; our true laws are to be found in our hearts and minds, and it is only when these change that our systems change. But this is also because my ideal government is utterly impracticable.
I would prefer to be governed by a theocratic monarchy; that is to say a temporal power that is a perfect representation of the divine will. My one political goal was articulated by (of all people) the popular singer Tiny Tim when he said that "most of all, I'd love to see Christ come back to crush the spirit of hate and make men put down their guns." I understand "Christ" not in the obvious sense of "Jesus" but in its true (to me) sense as "the anointed one," that is, He or She who is chosen by and descended from God at any given time to reflect the divine will. Such a figure is the only one with the legitimate right to rule over humanity and, possessed of the infinite mercy and kindness of the God that He or She is the child of, would be capable of curing all of the ills that beset humanity and restoring us to the harmony our divided souls yearn for.
So...basically I'm saying that Princess Celestia is pretty much the ideal representation of what I think a government should be.
It should be obvious why this is utterly impractical, however; it's certainly obvious to me. I don't hold any illusions about us discovering a true Son or Daughter of God...such a thing could never be agreed upon, it would cause only strife, and in all likelihood any who we believed to be such a divine figure would merely be a fallible human, and his or her deification would bring only more ill and suffering upon us. But as a dream above and beyond the concrete mechanisms of politics, I think it has value.
Applejack, the apple of my eye
I am a reserve anarchist. I used to believe in Communism, but learning and studying both Marxism and Leninism, it just doesn't seem to work well as I like it to become.
I learn that any type of government will not work properly as we all like it to be, for us, for everyone. Religion can and has rule nations, but has been used to fuel man for his power and spread its hand to control others, by the influence of and under "God" name.
I will agree with Sentimental Gentleman, but if only we could have a magical talking Alicorn to rule and balance our world into harmony. Princess Celestia will have a lot to work with, but I'm willing to give my life for her. ^ ^ For Equestria! For ponies. XD

Equal pay for everyone just wouldnt work...
A person who has 10 years of education and 10 years of student loans needs a good paycheck just to get out of debt.
Should someone who is a trained expert get the same pay as a layman?
Thered be drive to get the easiest job possible. Youd have no more specialists. No doctors, mechanics, engineers, actors.. everyone would just do the easiesy job possible

All of these are interesting and pressing concerns, and that last point is certainly a possibility...but is it not also a possibility that human values might change so that the joy of challenge and self-enrichment and the pleasure of charity become the foundation of society, rather than the will to leisure and individual hedonism? I think the success of a society like Mercyknight describes would depend upon the cultural buy-in to the values necessary to make it run smoothly, and clearly those values are at odds with many of those that our present societies, for the most part, encourage us to internalize. But I do not think that makes the values of these present societies absolute and eternal necessities. Still, as you rightly point out, our present understanding does produce a tremendous hurdle for any realization of the Federation world that Mercyknight presents.

We live in a world where four guys with a computer and the right cables can play video games, and make amusing commentary off them, and get paid enough that none of them work "proper" jobs any more via advertisements at the start of their videos. Their videos get maybe 500k per episode and all FOUR of them don't work, youtube is good money doing nothing all that difficult already.
And his concept has merit, and the US is supposed to work like that, but thanks to government it's fucked up. See, originally, the US calculated how much it cost to live in a given area and that was FORCIBLY minimum wage. It got too hard to keep up with, fluxes in apartment rates, entertainment, grocery bills, from state to state got too much for them to keep up with, so they said the states regulate that. Most states aren't where they SHOULD be. And this is me paraphrasing my economy professor last semester. Minimum wage in the US is way lower than it should be.
On topic, the only possible government that could be the best possible would be a government led by an all powerful, but entirely moral being. Not gonna happen. All other governments are born into corruption, so you just have to deal with gaming the system.

Nothing is wrong with America, just the government with their pointless politics that has us in a standstill at times and their quest to install base of operation, so they can have their nose in every countries interests.
I despise the Chinese government, but never its people or its country. I can say the same for America, but we have it much much better then most countries will ever have. Better then Mexico that's for sure. If someone has negative view for USA, then they're looking at it in the one viewpoint, and not all angles to show how luckily we didn't end up in third world countries.
They will never know the magic of friendship and ponies. XD
