Oh so separate from the world
Like the shimmering ocean pearl
Drawn in from the tide
From vulgarity you tried to hide
But, alas, it was to no avail
Besides, you shalln’t be frail
So let us walk along together
Under the gloomy, rainy weather
Even though my world is a mess
And I desperately need you, I must confess
Let’s try to keep ourselves calm
And hold our heads up in aplomb
Because even when I am in a panic
And my need for assurance is manic
I know your sweet words will soothe
Like a soft, smooth jazz groove
And that your loving, warm caress
Will once again regenerate my tenderness
And you know that even through you fear
I will always be here, very near
I couldn’t possibly be kept away
Regardless of what they say
Why, even if our families disavowed it
You know I couldn’t trudge on without it
So tonight I will sleep soundly
And tomorrow I can proclaim loudly
“With God and my love, I have no fear”
While a huge grin lights my face, ear to ear
That assurance you give is the most precious mirth

How do you tell the one you love
That you will always be true
That their love you’ll always need

That no matter what you do
The love will always be from above
How do you comfort the disheartened
Even when all things look bleak
Even when the path is dark

A golden sun accents the powder sky
As my lover and I stand, eye to eye
Oh, what a lovely day to meet
In the midst of the springtime heat
As traffic wooshes by the quaint park
We make our plans to stay until dark
With our names scrawled onto the lonely willow
We can laugh the day away beneath white, puffy billows
As the geese gather on the still pond
Our love for each other goes beyond
Even our wildest of dreams
Love can be so much more than it seems
As the hours while away
In a day of sunny play
We know that a blanket of night
Will soon cover our love struck delight
So as the sun sets on a day together
She knows I will love her forever
And assured of her, so am I
That I know she will love me even after I die
With this assurance, we can sleep sound
Each knowing the other will still be around

Mystery of love, warm and gentle
The universe’s one constant in history
Magic is what we partake in, when we gaze in each other’s eyes
When we dream of a future together, and realize parting would be tragic
Why is it that sometimes, regardless
It seems to idly pass us by?
To understand why the deepest of loves grows old
Would surely give us the wherewithal to get through
Tough times we are facing
And though the future looks rough
We know tomorrow we will again gaze into the other’s eyes
Because a vow we made, and a vow we will keep, so shall it be
And though sometimes we may disagree
I’ve never regretted giving you my hand

Brace for the future fearlessly
Bring no fears of obsolescence
Bravo to the love that has conquered all
Heavenly our affection propels
Henceforce shall it be endless
Heated in the veil of midnight
Broiled to surface under summer sun
Brought to bear in unsuspecting lives
Braving the slings and arrows of that which they once feared
Healed of the sins of the past
Heather skies above, no rain in sight
Heaving towards greatness in the great beyond
Brandished as rebels in a world upside down
Brawling with the contrived purposes of that world
Breath a sigh of victory as we take our celebration lap
Here we are, the peak of the Earth
Held back by no plan of man or mouse
Hence, our victory has been won

Unassailable to the world below
A world lost in your gorgeous glow
Flowers blooming in spades around you
What a blessing it was, the day I found you
Truly the most beautiful gift to behold
Though you so seem so unreachable
You did step down to meet me
So that together, we could be
Elation that knows no bounds
And affection that still astounds
Five years later, still desperate for each other
In the night, we gather beneath streetlights
We huddle and speak of some future year

How difficult it is
To conceal the feelings
That I feel only for you
How challenging throughout the day
To hear others speak of their loves
And yet, to know that opportunity
Has not yet arisen in our lives
But that someday, perhaps soon, it will
But challenge builds strength
And strength is required of love
So, in a way, our separation builds love
That though we are so far away physically
We are as one, both spiritually and mentally
As it says, in marriage two become as one
And so we are, connected in this intimate way
Never to part, bonds never to be broken
So we must retain that strength
And add to it every day and night
So our connection will continue to grow
So stay true to me, darling
And I will strive for truth with you
Admit my faults and my misgivings
And be quick to forgive and praise
So that we may keep that bond unbroken
And as the sun sets on a life well lived
I will plan to spend eternity with you
Where we will never again be apart

What could I possibly say
Whatsoever could I do
When there is simply no way
To show you how much I love you
I cannot put such a love into syllables
To anyone else it is simply unassimilable
How could I empart to you the truth
That I need you desperately every hour
Not by the sound of tongue against tooth
Verbal speech simply doesn’t have the power
No, I am doomed to silent admiration
Any thought on my feelings thusly is speculation
The warmth I feel in your presence is unique
From only you does it radiate
No other one has your charming mystique
For no other could I be so passionate
So perhaps it is best that we leave it unspoken
So that our unity could remain symbolically unbroken
So that we could both recognize that it is incomprehensible
That neither of us could put this feeling to writing
And yet all of our actions feel so defensible
Because the all-consuming desire is so satisfying
Maybe that means we’ve both lost our minds
But I, for one, have no objection to being held in this silent bind
For you, I know, I could climb the highest grade
And swim the most treacherous sea
So I will be content to have my future made
Of silent moments, as long as you’re standing next to me

You are my country
You are my lady
And no other mortal will I serve
Your eyes are my shore to shore
Your fulsome hips, the rolling hills
And your tender smile is the sun above it
Your warm, embracing hooves are my open plains
And your sweet kisses are the coastlines
Throughout the years, your grandeur does not fade
Your heartbeat is my national anthem
And your luscious mane is my flag
I will defend them with ever fiber I have
When you pull me in to kiss me, bombs burst above
And when we snuggle together afterwords, the war is won

Once again I am headed southbound
Where joy and freedom can be found
And I hope I hear your clarion call
Amid the reveling pall
The amber fields of grain
Help to ease the burgeoning pain
And the road rises up to meet me
Since your lovely smile isn’t here to greet me
As the winds whip me every which way
On this blustery Independence Day
And the sun beats down with intensity
I revert to my basic propensity
I dream of you
As I often do
You may be scant as a mirage
But I am enrapture by your visage
So while I may be a simple fool
I pray that my luck won’t be that cruel
And that in your quiet, distant way
You are with my on this holiday
I know I can’t spend this day alone
It simply wouldn’t fit this day’s tone
Because I am not free when we are apart
I am only liberated when we are heart-to-heart
