I've used a fair amount of skullcandies they sound like ass. At least they are cheap and are for those who want so much bass.

You've obviously been buying the wrong Skullcandy stuff then.

And who doesn't want bass?

The sound gets muddy as fuck. I would take clarity over bass anyday.

Throw out your Skullcandy suggestions, I wonder if they had improved by now.

Perfection is boring anyway. As long as there's still a good dynamic range (I guess I have a high tolerance for compression) I'll take bass.

Besides, melody always comes first, even if it's *gasp* compressed.

I forgot to mention earlier, I also own these semi-open monitor headphones that I use to make music.
I can't stand overwhelming bass. I do listen to edm a lot but I dont like it when the bass is overdone. It's an ear ache at times to.

ATM I'm looking into getting a pair of Shure SE215s.

What monitors do you use ? Aren't monitor headphones supposed to be closed ?

Evidently monitor headphones don't have to be closed.

One time, I was listening to Animals by Martin Garrix (which is already a really muddy mix) on this speaker with lots of bass, and it sounded amazing.

I use Superlux HD-681.

The mix of Animals is fine dude, I think you are just used to listening to overpowering bass.

Superlux looks way to similar to the AKG headphones.

Maybe it was just me, but it sounded muddy. I'm not gonna lie, he does have good skills for someone so young.

And yeah, AKG does look similar to Superlux. I dunno which is better, but I don't care anyway, I pretty much know how something should sound on my Superlux.

This is my thoughts when it comes to audio. I hook up my shitty 2.1 setup if I want a crap load of bass and volume when listening to electro.

Most of the time however I use a pair of Shure SRH840's since I used to do a lot of video editing and listening for cues was important.

I love these things, though I really would love to hear what they sound like with a nice headphone amp.

I've heard pretty good things about open phones, but I've never had a chance to try them.

I believe in clarity over volume, but I'd shoot myself before listening to a song without bass. The only thing better is melody.

I don't think either of us are saying that we want to listen without bass, My primary reason for liking studios monitors is that certain headphones flavor the audio with bass rather than trying to be a natural reproduction of the sound. Also my head hurts rather easily with overloaded bass.

The music I listen to already has a lot of bass; for general listening more doesn't mean better right next to my ears.
