If I may confess something, the 2014 'Godzilla' movie is the only one I've seen.
Which Godzilla other than that would you suggest for a first time watcher?
Given how expansive the series is, I'll just try to narrow it down to few.
-Godzilla 1954 (of course, it's the original)
-Godzilla Vs. Biollante, I'd also recommend it's predecessor The Return Of Godzilla but that one is rather hard to find, in the states at least.
-Godzilla, Mothra, & KIng Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, also called GMK, 'cause it's a mouthful of a title.
-Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla, this one's kinda on the campy side since it was made in 1974, but it's still good in my opinion. If you like stuff on the more lighthearted side, you'll probably like it.
-Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah
I'd also heartily recommend the Heisei Gamera trilogy (different franchise from Godzilla), I consider them the best kaiju/giant monster movies out there.
Hope this list helps.
