I like it, its by far not a "good story" in my books but it has made me laugh many times and overall has been an amazing ride. It's not for anyone though.
The character you're talking about is Gaige the Mechromancer. She specialises in using her robot Deathtrap as a form of both a defensive and offensive drone and provide utility to the team.
Accuracy is probably the stat people care for the least, unless you main Zer0 with sniper rifles. Most of the best guns in the game has piss poor accuracy, but makes up for it with damage, elemental bonuses etc. You rarely get into long range combat and even if so, you can easily close the distance.
The main story is fine, it's not great but it's fine. The side quests, however, where you spend 90% of the game, are nothing but pop culture references that quickly dry out when you're inundated with the internet, which is constantly spewing pop culture. (tumblr) And I main Gaige.
Now, the thing about accuracy? I was just now literally tempted to go return my copy of the Handsome collection at reading that. You're using a GUN, not face fucking guys is the point of using a gun! If I have to be fist close to hit with my assault rifle, I may as well just beat the game by punching. That is just pisspoor design.
Well that's you then. I like it, you may not.
If you haven't noticed yet, most weapons in Borderlands 2 aren't hitscan. They are projectiles. Also many weapons' have certain bullet patterns or split during travel. This is why it seems like accuracy is often low and often why it's usually not cared for too much.
I'm not asking you to get that fucking close. Learn to compensate for the projectile travel.
