The Lady Dances
by Siegfried Danzinger

The room goes dark. The music starts. On blinks a welcoming spotlight. But will I see her?

I notice her legs first. The light plays over them. Loves them; as do I. Were that all that I saw, I would still be content.

But, tonight, I am far luckier.

She tosses her hair from side to side; a bright celebration of color. The spotlight blinks out - though only for a moment. The lady is in full view now, and there's almost too much to see. She is clothed in the sky.

Does she dance because the music plays? Or does the music play because she dances? My heart says both.

Were her beauty still, I could not take my eyes away. But her beauty in motion is utterly intoxicating. A cool, cool and shapely blue. And yet: There's nothing warmer.

The lights go up, and she's here with me. The lady dances, and the clouds and sky dance with her. No time passes. All time passes. I'll measure by my heartbeat.

The way you move makes all else stand still.

The music stops, and you're in my arms. There's a light in your eyes that's a dance of its own; a seductive promise that there's always something more. And nothing ever really ends.
