I think it's totally reasonable for civilians to own some guns.

I don't think it's reasonable under any circumstances to sell an assault rifle to a civilian.

not even the nightclub shooter had an assault rifle. modern sporting rifles are semi auto not full. however ity shouldn't matter if it is semi, full or whatever. there should be no restriction to civilian ownership, only restrictions on those who have done violent crimes, and/or are being/have been investigated on suspicion of terrorism unless proven innocent
