I'm gonna respectfully disagree. Homicide statistics in countries with strict gun laws clearly demonstrate that there are far less mass shootings in those countries when compared to the US.
If your goal is sport, there's no need for heavy weapons, which is why my stance is in the middle. I think it's alright to let people who have an alright record possess a firearm, because the complete removal of guns isn't necessary, nor does it seem to be preferable, but to hand dangerous weapons out so liberally, especially powerful versions of an already dangerous form of weapon - guns - is senseless.
Frankly, though, I don't care too much for the latest and hottest debate topics surrounding the Orlando shooting. Everyone's chucking blame around like it's someone's fault. Like monkeys flinging shit. Oh, it's the left, and their overly liberal immigration policies. Oh, it's the right and their gun-loving insanity. The shooter had a profile on a gay dating website and likely hated himself, and also had a record with domestic abuse and anger issues. If I remember correctly, he was also born in the United States. It's is not limited to any one issue and the more shit gets flung, the more it just piles up atop the memories of the victims of that massacre. And don't even get me started on Westboro or those who have a similar point of view. Overall this situation is just one giant, disgusting mess.
Let me know if you need anything. I'm here to help.
