I know that what I'll say will probably pale in comparison to your words, but I felt the need to jot down some of my own perspectives on things.

Don't sell yourself short, I think it was pretty relevant.

In regards to people's reactions to our loves and life choices, I feel as though it boils down to the simple sake of the fact that humans have the need to feel superior to others. I myself have been victim to this...it effected my life pretty deeply and took a long time to recover from this.

There are a couple aspects of the way we humans operate which cause, imho a disproportionate amount of misery. One of those is the need to feel superior. Another is the need to control. And the bitch of it is, these behaviors seem to aid the individual, but not the group, yet they're so successful at aiding the individual that they've been selected for, evolutionarily speaking.

Ponies, fortunately, don't play these asinine primate games.

As for the bit of species difference, this is a subject near and dear to my heart as all the women I've deeply loved in life are non-human. I had to find out the hard way that this is apparently not "normal" in the eyes of some people, and I had the misfortune of experiencing how far some people will go with their objection to it. I think people fail to realize the term of anthropomorphic extends beyond the physical, if it has obviously human characteristics, can think and feel like us, talks, etc. It's anthro, period. That's how I've always seen it really.

There's that urge to feel superior again, that urge to control. By this, I mean their reaction to your choice of romantic partner. I'm sorry you've had to endure that. The impression I get from reading your stuff, though is that Nightmare has really helped you along. Furthermore, it seems like you two are quite happy with one another, so you'll be together for a good, long time. Here's to hoping.

And yes, if it's self aware, and capable of abstract thought, why shouldn't it be considered a person? Many don't arrive at their positions through thought, they adopt their initial knee-jerk emotional reaction, and then justify it afterwards in whatever way they can.

For us, this means they see a human pining for something which resembles a "horse," so they think bestiality/pervert, and the mental-box fallacy takes it from there. Society tells them they're right, so they don't ever stop to consider it from another point of view. Yay, humanity.
