Why?
One night I dreamed of Twilight,
her hooves were in my hands.
A gift dropped into my sight,
in glowing purple bands.
Then the dream began to end,
as these words she did give:
“Will you please be my colt friend?”
Why should I even live?
One day I dreamed of Twilight,
with me under a tree.
We talked and laughed, all was right,
were happy as could be.
She told me, then “I love you,”
and faded like a ghost.
I woke in tears at this truth:
can't have what I want most.
I hear voices in my head,
I hear the things they say.
I hear my own, just as dread,
they demand every day:
“You will never see her!”
Why should I live?
“You will never hold her!”
Why should I live?
“You will never hear her call your name!”
Why should I live?
“Why should you even fucking live?”
Why should I even fucking live?
“Why?”
Why?
“Why?”
Why?
“Why?”
Why?
…
T'was then I felt a softness:
her nuzzle on my cheek.
Her presence gave this kindness,
the answer which I seek:
Why should I even live?
Why should I endure?
I should go on for love;
I should live for her.

The bigger you build the bonfire, the more darkness is revealed.
Every possession and every happiness is but lent by chance for an uncertain time, and may therefore be demanded back the next hour.
