I got a bunch of things today, so review time! I'll just briefly talk about what came in and how it is, since these are the new brushable dolls, replacing the old, and more. In case you were interested in any of the new stuff for 2017.
First off, here's what I was able to get!
I'll start off with the new minis. The biggest thing to come out of these new minis are the stands, seriously they're worth buying even just for the stand to give to older models. Good thing I got Adagio, her purple stand goes very well with the first Rarity. Now I should point out there has been some remolding, these new dolls are entirely new compared to their previous counterparts, rather than an outfit swap and expression change. As you may notice, the new Rarity's hair is a bit smaller than the hair mold used for the previous 3 Rarity figures, meaning she's slightly lighter. However, she keeps the same hand molds. Not too noticeable.
Like I said, the stands can really support them well. My only complaint is that Rari here, Adagio as well, can quite hold their microphones. You sorta have to wedge it in.
Also Adagio looks great I must say. Definitely need to get Twi too, but I figured like Sunset this might be the hard one to get this wave.
So the new doll molds! I got to say there are positives and negatives to the new molds. For the positives, they definitely are more show accurate, and I like the curves on them, they're sculpted well as opposed to the more pudgyness of the previous molds. Also, right off the bat we already have some new poses and different mouth poses that add a little bit more to each character aside from just a raised hoof. Particularly I feel this way with the carded figure on the left. The one on the right is the one in the clear purse.
And onto the negatives, which I think can summarize with this. I feel like the new legs are way too thin. Show accurate from one angle for sure, but from the back they look very odd.
Also on the new Rarity, the glasses don't quite fit her face, and don't look good on her expect above her head. On the eyes, they don't work on her face too well compared to the old mold.
Onto the best part in the next post!
Now on to the pièce de résistance of what I received today, the Runway set! I adore this thing, it's great. So fun to play with. This is everything it comes with.
Now, here's how it works. This set is compatible with multiple other new dolls with dresses, like Twilight and Rainbow, and you place the pony on the little piece on the end and the dress on the split piece in the center. Then you would slide the little heart along the bottom and...
...viola! Instant fashion, complete with a runway twirl! I love this set it's so much fun to play with. Especially with the other outfits. I just wish it came with a dress similar to her Gala outfit, just to go along with Twilight and Rainbow. But aside from that, I love it! The glasses are removable by the way.
Also, while old doll types won't fit on the runway, they will actually fit in the outfits, so that's good.
All in all, this stuff is great! Totally get some of the new pony stuff for 2017!
