Inspired by posts in the Random Thoughts thread here's one about Dungeons and Dragons, WH40K, & co. Specifically, it's to gauge interest in a site game. If you might like to play, please make a post in this thread, telling us:
1. The type of game you'd like to play; sci-fi, fantasy, combat-oriented, intrigue, etc.
2. Your game or game-system of choice, i.e. would you like Dungeons and Dragons 3.X etc, World of Darkness, TriStat, and so on. Also include any you definitely don't want to play.
3. Your desired position in the game: player, or GM, basically
4. Your role playing experience.
5. Your expected availability to play the game.
So, ahem.
1. Don't care. Modern fantasy is my personal favorite, but it's pretty niche. Normal fantasy is also one I'm fond of. Sci-fi can be fun, but the only setting of the kind I know enough about to write a proper campaign would be Star Trek.
2. I'm most experienced in D&D 2E, 3.5, and New World of Darkness, each heavily house-ruled. I've also dabbled in a handful of other systems, and like any table-top enthusiast have created numerous systems of my own.
I would very much like to avoid using GURPS, but won't mind if someone else GMs it.
3. Don't care. The last few years I could play - over a decade ago - I was always the GM, but that was mostly because nobody else wanted to. I' certainly wouldn't mind being a player again.
4. Over 3 decades of various rpgs as both player and GM. Primarily fantasy, and running the gamut from standard hack-and-slash, to games of courtly intrigue.
5. I cant really say, unfortunately and may not be able to do it properly at all. If there's sufficient interest, but nobody else wants to GM I can probably put together a short, simple campaign to give an idea of how it works to those who were curious. If a player, then I have no qualms about my character *POOOF*ing out of existence when I'm unavailable.
