I've been thinking about getting a Prius Prime for a while now. I have the money to buy it with cash, but I also want to invest my money so I have more money later. More than anything, I'm just waiting for something to happen to my current car where it needs an expensive repair and then I'll get rid of it and buy a Prius Prime but it's been years and that hasn't happened.
Currently I have a 2010 Toyota Yaris hatchback. I like it a lot because it gives a lot of head room with a small price tag. I'm at about 130k miles on it and I've had no major repairs except the typical maintenance, tires, oils, and a belt or two. It saves me a lot of money by being such a reliable car and it is also very fuel efficient. It heats up very fast in the winter time and the air conditioner in it can cool the car off in minutes even after it's been sitting in the sun all day in the parking lot outside of work.
I've also owned a 1990 Chevy Cavalier. The Chevy Cavalier had head gasket problems mixing oil and coolant around 150k miles. It also needed a lot more maint. and unexpected repairs than other cars I've owned.
I've also owned a 1993 Saturn SC2 which had problems with the automatic seat belts running the battery dead when the car was off and nobody was in it. Also the Saturn SC2 developed automatic transmission problems where it would be late to downshift or upshift after about 200k miles. That was mildly infuriating.
