Perfection is unattainable
On this Earthly coil
And yet I am satisfied
It isn’t perfection that I desire
It is you

You see, I’ve come to a realization
A pivotal place in our relationship
Where I realize that I was trying so hard
To create a perfect life for us
That I may have been pushing us apart

But life isn’t what it is in the movies
It’s not the perfect story
Wrapped up in a neat 90 minute runtime
Real life is messy
Real romance is even worse

But I wouldn’t ask for anything different
No changes whatsoever
I’m proud to be able to be authentic with you
To be vulnerable in all the best ways
And even in all the worst ways

So I’ll admit I’m not the perfect partner
And I will be able to finally forgive myself
For missed opportunities
Selfish displays and graceless moments
Because I can trust that you’ll love me anyway
