How will I know when I feel true love?
Oh, how that question once plagued me
And how my ego did beg me
To seek an answer from above
But all my attempts to find it were catastrophe
It is not simply swept in on the wings of the dove
And no matter how hard I tried to be an expert of
The method to love, it still eluded me
How I wished that a kind-hearted girl would set me free
If only I could find that beloved
Of my own, then I would have the gentle shove
That I needed, as I could unlock happiness with that key
But since I met you, I have truly been loved
And away my emotions did flee
With you that day we carved our initials on a tree
And since, having experienced joy, I have learned more thereof
Love is not a joyous spree
It is not a simple leap from meeting to betrothed
And to adapt it requires a transfer of
Childish selfishness to measured, happy matrimony
But how blessed we are to both have lived
At the right time for our camaraderie
To blossom into that holy matrimony
Not only to love one way, but to, in return, be loved
And though the daily compromise is not trouble-free
Still I am simply content to be loved
And since your personality fits mine like a glove
I see that in love is what we will always be
