You gave a first glimpse of those clear blue eyes
And I knew that there was no way I could escape
I would always be captivated
And though I had no way to disguise
The dreams of romance rushing through my brain
The sight of a slight smile at the corners of your lips
Caused my fragile sense of hope to rise

Perhaps this romance wouldn’t be my demise
I hoped as I strode towards our inevitable collision
And I hoped that you would feel the same way I did
I hoped that I could come out of this wise
But most of all, I hoped I wouldn’t have to come out at all
My deepest desire was to love you forever
