I could have had a mansion of pure gold
I could have had the wealth I so yearned for of old
But today, it is not that which motivates me

I could have been rich and famous
Wealthy enough to be shameless
I look back on what a foolish existence that would have been

Today I have life’s greatest treasure
A love that is honest and true
So that I never again will be blue
A love that brings me joy beyond measure

So take all my money, leave me a pauper
But never retract your earlier offer
For I so desperately need you in my life

I know that forever you will be by my side
That we will spend the rest of eternity on this ride
And I wouldn’t have it any other way

The distance may seem too much to bear
But your affection is so fulfilling
And your caress is so thrilling
That all out of nowhere, I cease to care

After all, what is this distance
But a way to build up resistance
To the idea that we are ever truly alone

I say let us stay as we are
And I’ll go the distance, no matter how far
To spend my afterlife where you are
