The insincerity of the world
Squeezes me tightly in its grip
It strips of me my dignity
And it forces me to come to terms
With my own feebleness
Why is it I feel like I’m only passionate about us
When we reach the breaking point
Why must I commit sin
To feel as though I am remade
When all I want is to be with you and with God?
Why do I grow so complacent
When I should be able to celebrate success
And why do I need your love the most
When I least deserve it?
I need to get back to my happy self
So tonight, a vow to you
That I will focus on the sunshine
And that I will overlook the clouds
When I see a cloud, I will hope for rain
To help our love bloom
I will need your help
So please stay close at my side
And together we will move one step
Closer to Heaven
Content in ourselves again
Squeezes me tightly in its grip
It strips of me my dignity
And it forces me to come to terms
With my own feebleness
Why is it I feel like I’m only passionate about us
When we reach the breaking point
Why must I commit sin
To feel as though I am remade
When all I want is to be with you and with God?
Why do I grow so complacent
When I should be able to celebrate success
And why do I need your love the most
When I least deserve it?
I need to get back to my happy self
So tonight, a vow to you
That I will focus on the sunshine
And that I will overlook the clouds
When I see a cloud, I will hope for rain
To help our love bloom
I will need your help
So please stay close at my side
And together we will move one step
Closer to Heaven
Content in ourselves again
