In times of confusion and anger
I have your shoulder to lean upon
And you can comfort me
Just as I do for you in your time of need
Oh, how I need you now

And I know that you are there for me
For that alone, I am thankful
But I am more thankful still that you never tire
No matter what I need to hear
You dispense it with a pleasant smile

I hope that I can do the same for you
When the time is right
I hope that, as you calm my panic today
I can dry your eyes in some future day
So that you know, as I do, that you needn’t despair

I thank you for holding strong
Though my behavior of late has been exhausting
And I hope I can make it up to you
Some day soon
As you deserve all the pampering in the world

But I guess the gift we earn
For all the emotional ups and downs
Is our love itself
And I wouldn’t have it any other way
Our relationship is worth every tear we’ve ever shed
