As summer draws to a close
The beaches and lakes are bare
As the petals wither away from the rose
And the amber leaves glide down without a care
No one in their right minds would suppose
This would be the setting for a life-changing love affair

But our love is nothing if not a surprise
How can one be lost so completely
In the glance of the other’s eyes?

So let the autumn gales howl
And let old man winter knock on our door
Let the other summer lovers cry fowl
And let the temperatures drop to their floor
We knew the summer had to end somehow
And your beauty in these harsh conditions makes me love you more

No matter the weather I will hold you in my heart
Always to admire you
