Sure, Sour Soul, there's plenty that A.J. and I don't agree on. One of the big ones is modern art; I love it with all my heart, she thinks it doesn't make a lot of sense.
But there's also plenty that we do have in common. We both love a lot of the same music, and we both enjoy dancing (including square dancing; A.J.'s been my tutor for improving my skills at that). We both like the outdoors (though she's maybe a bit more enthusiastic about sporting in the outdoors, while I have a little more of a taste than her for indulging in the romantic beauty of nature), and in particular we're always looking for the chance to fish together. She's a right good angler! Not to mention that we both love plain, delicious home cooking! But more than anything, I'd say we share the same fundamental convictions regarding what Faulkner called the "eternal verities of the heart," even if we express them in different ways. More than anything, I'd say it's that core similarity that draws us together.
Perhaps this is somewhat unrelated, but...I may have been raised in the suburbs, but my mother's side of the family is salt-of-the-earth farm stock; A.J. really brings out that side of me and my heritage in a way nopony else does.
Since this isn't a thread solely devoted to our loves, I suppose I can also mention that I have a best friend with whom I share a great deal in common...especially a taste for media that's either insane or so bad it's good! To have both him and A.J. in my life is a blessing for which I fear I might never be able to repay the universe.
