Twenty One
I entered the living room of our personal living quarters quietly, shutting the door behind me, sighing in satisfaction. It had been a wonderful day thus far, and I had a suspicion it was only going to get even better. The room was darkened romantically, the deep red carpet appearing even redder than usual, twenty one candles were placed in several individual locations, the little flames illuminating the room in a subtle yet vibrant manner. I heard a low, but feminine voice clear her throat teasingly to get my attention, my gaze immediately traveled to her. Nightmare Rarity sat on the soft couch, smiling invitingly. On the table was a bottle of something I didn't recognize along with two glasses, and with a single flickering candle.
"I was right. It just got even better." I smiled in thought as I made my way to her, my heart almost felt like it was a doing a back flip when I saw her attire. She wore a soft looking black dress, which like that of her mane and tail, sparkled and shimmered as though it had every star in the night sky within its beautiful fabric. She wore polished silver shoes, her necklace was one I'd never seen before. Different, curling patterns perfectly carved into it, and a single blood red ruby in its center. Her tiara remained the same though. Her sharp teeth were visible as she smiled, resting comfortably on the couch, she patted the cushion next to me indicating she very much wanted me to sit down.
I sat down, my stare never leaving her, quickly getting accustomed to the soft couch of which we frequently sat in.
"Happy birthday, my dear," her voice broke the heavy romantic silence.
"You look amazing...," I trailed off, unsure of what to say as I looked her over. Starting with her shoes and moving up her long regal legs.
"You look rather dashing yourself, as always," she teased. Knowing that her complimenting my appearance had a special effect on me. Her horn glowed sapphire blue, the bottle and the glasses levitating up to us, the cork tugged out of the bottle gently and set upon the table. A clear, and surprisingly sweet smelling liquid poured into each glass carefully.
"Wine?"
"Yes. Lunar wine, to be exact," she handed me the glasses, the candlelight glinting off of it. "I wanted your first drink to be with me," Nightmare continued with a smile.
"The moon has wine?" I looked at the liquid contents, still. Just waiting for the first sip.
"The moon has many secrets," she winked, "this bottle was aged one hundred and fifty years."
"Hey now, you're not trying to get me drunk right?" I asked with a suppressed chuckle.
"Michael, I can assure you my intentions are strictly honorable."
We both laughed without a care in the world before gently clinking our glasses together and simultaneously taking a sip. The wine itself tasted sweet, certainly unlike anything on Earth, the sweetness was followed up by a burn; though not a painful or unpleasant one. I exhaled deeply and looked at her, the sweet taste still on my tongue, the oddly gentle burning lingering as well.
"Happy twenty first, my dear," Nightmare Rarity spoke quietly, yet happily. We leaned in towards one another, our lips locking in a sweet burning kiss. The delicious taste in our mouths seemed to fuel our passion, my hand stroking the soft sparkling fabric of her dress and moving up her neck and to her cheek as she pulled me ever so closer.
We finally pulled away after what seemed like an eternity, her tongue slowly trailing across her lips to further savor the taste, smiling at me. I smiled back at her, raising my glass.
"Many happy returns."
