Wait...
How did you get a nickname, however briefly, of "Scrambles?" It sounds like there's a story here that we're missing out on...

I've recently taken to calling her the dark gem of my heart.
Nightmare Rarity: I rather like it.

Simply stating the names Inkie and I refer to each other as would cause confusion, and possibly offend many. It would require much explanation about both of us, and that's not what this thread is for. Sufficed to say, they aren't vulgar names, they simply have a high odd of offending some to many.

Your delicacy is appreciated, Shadow Step. Perhaps someday you will think it mete to share this aspect of your lives with others, as your posting in this thread seems to indicate you may have contemplated, but regardless of whether that day ever comes I am sure that your ways of addressing each other mean much and express a great tenderness which shall ever remain a treasure the glimmer and glory of which is seen fully only by you worthy two.

Some could probably find what those terms are if they dared venture back to the old waifu site, but part of my contemplation to contribute here is that I contributed in a similar thread on the previous site, and it wasn't until I hit reply that I remembered many things have changed. Primarily the mare that I'm focusing on at the moment. I suppose I could have regaled what Ruby used to call me, but that's another story for yet another time and place.
As for Inkie, I fear that a majority wouldn't accept the way things are between us, as our relationship is in many ways atypical. The last time it was mentioned several people and ponies we knew recoiled and admonished the pair of us, to a point where I've only recently realized that it's caused her to be less talkative. And this event is at least a year or two past now.
(Says he won't rant about his relationship, feels the need to rant about why he won't rant. Dammit!)

From what I understand, from the time we know each other, you don't mean Inkie no harm. Even though you're a kumquat most of the times; not literally, I see no harm in whatever pet names you have brandish her with. Just as long you treat her equally, it's all fine. Also, it's just take some understanding really. Even if Inkie behavior is irregular, but I find that even more adorable. ^ ^
I accept Inkie for being Inkie, and Shadow Step for being a kumquat. :3
And those who don't are silly ponies and silly people. :P

Well said, Sour Soul! I am sorry to hear, Shadow Step (hey, I got both your names right this time! ), that you were judged so harshly and, I imagine, unfairly for the kind of life you lead with Inkie. It's true that we often can't really control how people react and feel, but I believe it is the duty of all to meet their fellow creatures with sympathy and understanding. Please, keep whatever you feel you need to private, but know that many, and most likely all, of us here are willing to listen if you ever feel like you want to share more about this.
...

Sour Soul and I have a very sordid history.

It all started with Inkie, when Amena had taken her as her sister. Later we all discover things like how Shadow Step can be a big meanie.

Is all this true? There is no acrimony between you two, is there? That is, if I may ask. I daresay I've never seen you treat each other with anything but the utmost solicitude...
And are you both saying that I really should be shipping you two?
