Despite Shadow of the Colossus being one of my favourite games, Action Adventure is definitely one of my least favourites nowadays, as well as a lot of the more linear "interactive movie" sort of games.
As for favourites, not something I've thought about often, but many of my favourite games tend to have RPG elements. Plenty of musical games like Guitar Hero/Rock Band and such. I'll put strategy and simulation games up there too, 'cause I'm usually a sucker for those kinds of games.
Every now and then, a good platformer or FPS will come up too.
