Well, I finally the COMPLETE Heisei Godzilla series. Today The Return Of Godzilla arrived, possibly the rarest Godzilla movie to receive in the states due to copyright issues, but I finally have it. The original Japanese version with English subtitles.

On a related note of expanding film collection, I now have the Japanese version of Varan and just today Gamera The Brave arrived.

Kaiju films are starting to take over the top of my shelf.

Just today, in the mail, I got my copy of it on Blu-ray, to add to the ever-growing collection of Blu-ray movies that Dad and I have been amassing, from movies we previously had on DVD Smile As much as I do like the movie for personal reasons, it's also now a very odd-man-out in my own personal movie collection, lol. It's a modern-set, kaiju-themed film, vs 90-95% of my movies being otherwise of the more ancient and/or mythical sword & sandal/sorcery/etc.-type stuff XD

I'm also planning to keep the DVD though. Comparing the two, it seems the Blu-ray copy sadly lacks quite a few of the special features that were on the DVD copy I have, unfortunately :/

One last interesting fact. This is a movie I've now owned originally on VHS, then DVD, and now finally B-R Big Grin

google play.
all digital is where the market is going.
and besides, that way it will be available for life on whatever player

Yep, they're giant monsters so they count.

Funny thing, Kow Otani, the composer for the game also composed the music for the Gamera trilogy as well.Smile

I'll say one thing about Kaiju films (Godzilla, specifically): There isn't any other genre where I consistently root for the character who could easily be perceived as the antagonist.

I don't watch comics-based films hoping for the supervillain to prevail, and I don't watch crime dramas hoping that the perpetrator gets away. I'm on the respective sides of superheroes and law enforcement in those cases. But when humanity tries to stop Godzilla in his tracks, I root for the giant monster tearass-ing its way through a city and leaving destruction and death in its wake. Why? Because the giant monster is cool.
