Past crushes besides your Waifu?

I'm not sure if I can call this a crush or not. But Juliette from Lollipop Chainsaw was super cool. I was already in love with Twilight, and the only reason I bought the game was for the "Twilight Sparkle appeal" because Juliette and Twilight both share Tara Strong as voice actors. And Tara uses her "Twilight Sparkle voice" throughout the entire game. I could close my eyes, and imagine Twilight hacking apart zombies with a chainsaw and shit. It was fucking fire. Oh and, I'm, loathe to admit it, but sometimes I'd let Juliette get hit and take damage on purpose, because sounds like sex grunts. That game was, hilarious. And there's lotsa funny dialoge, that I just, dropped my jaw, because I could never imagine Twilight saying these things. But, here's her voice, saying these things that I, don't think Twilight would ever say? For the most part, the game was hilarious, and kinda a mind fuck. But there's a special move, where sometimes Juliette says "I love you" and, it's in Twilights voice of course. And I think that's my favorite part of the whole game.

Well, you made me go, and look up that game. Now I've got a bunch of new youtube videos bookmarked so I can hear that voice.

Going to necro this thread, but I saw this question and it seemed like a good a reason as any to talk about this.

There have been several occasions where I have felt, at least beyond the aspects I am attracted to, have felt inexplicably (at least seemingly) attracted and pulled towards a "character." I'll see them, or hear them or read something about them and I'll suddenly feel a massive urge to go to them. Like a beacon or even a magnetic pull.

I used to just feel that only Nightmare and now Esdeath are in my life...but the more I reflect back it truly makes me wonder if there are indeed others but my younger and unenlightened self just didn't recognize it at the time.

Was I chosen? Were these events meant to happen. For whatever much of my soul tells me yes.

When Jurassic Park came out, I had a huge crush on Lex because there really weren't many women that were into Computer Science like i was. I knew from a very young age that I wanted to get into computers as much as I could, and decades later I still am in the industry.

I was young at the time and I was devastated when I learned that the actress that plays Lex really doesn't know computers at all. She doesn't really know her way around an SGI System V terminal. The actress just plays a fictional character in the movie and she isn't a real Computer Scientist. I was pretty sad for that.

My second major crush was Gabriel from Xena: Warrior Princess. In retrospect the main reasons I liked her was because she was so moe. Moe as in the Japanese term Moe. A woman in need of protecdtion. In the later seasons of the show she cut her hair short and became this strong fighter that could hold her own. I lost all interest in her at that point.

In retrospect I've been a big fan of moe even before I really understood what moe was. That was long before I started watching anime. Also, long before I knew there was a Japanese term for it.

I might as well necro the hell out of your necro because your point about a magnetic pull really resonates with me too. It's funny because when I first got into MLP I wasn't immediately attracted to Luna, but at some point it was like a switch got flipped in my brain and suddenly I was.

But to answer the thread question, Red XIII (aka Nanaki) was very much my waifu throughout my high school days. Although I didn't use the word waifu back then, I pretty much did all the same stuff that people do here,

If you wanted to go further back, I guess you could also include Spyro the Dragon. As a kid, nobody ever told me that same-sex attraction was a thing, let alone furry attraction so I didn't realise young me was crushing on him until later in life. In hindsight it explains a lot!

The part that bothers me about it is that there are SO many animes that are sexually charged, too. I mean, it would make sense if they were making these high-school aged girls easy on the eyes because better character design tends to help audiences sympathize with or like the characters more, but in a lot of cases it’s really obvious that they are sexualizing underage girls and it can be really skeevy and disturbing.

Oh, I just looked it up and it seems that the age of consent in Japan as a whole is FREAKIN’ 13!!!!! That’s just messed up. 15 or 16 would be kinda sketchy but passable, but 13?! That’s a child.

That seems to be why they get away with this.

If it makes you feel any better, I've heard a lot of states/prefectures set it at 15/16 within their own borders, though still messed up regardless.

And yeah... the sexualisation of underage girls in anime really creeps me out too. Even putting moral arguments aside, I really struggle to see how a character acting like a child or teen is attractive.

Im no japan dweller, but I believe the 13 is their federal age but all their "states" have it set higher to around 15, which is still kinda low imo but way better than 13.
