It is better to have love and lost than to have never loved at all.
It’s an old and cliche saying, but not a pointless one. Life often sucks, and has a tendency to remind us of that. It is infuriating how much things want to get in the way of happiness sometimes. We live in fear that something may take that happiness away.
But here, on this forum, we have found love. We have found those we wish to devote even the smallest part of ourselves to. Our waifus, our tulpas, characters written fictionally but emotionally real to us. We love them. Some of us have shrines of our love for them, and there is no shame in it. Be proud! Proclaim from the rooftops your love for your waifu! (metaphorically, of course, don’t disturb the neighbors)
Tonight, take some time. Lie in bed with your waifu. Hold the hooves (or hands) of your tulpa if you have one, or hold close your favorite plushie if you do not. Look into their eyes, take in everything you love about them, every little thing that makes your heart race when you think of them. Kiss them if you wish, make love to them if you desire, but what is important is that you take in this moment.
This moment, you love someone unconditionally, and they love you. They will be there for you in good days and bad, in sickness and health, no matter what happens. In this moment, the full weight of your love will be felt. Remember this moment, because this moment, and moments like these, are what keep you going. Even if death tries to take your love away, this moment will always, always, be there, and nothing can take that away from you.
This moment is for you and your waifu, for in this moment you are one, whole, part of a single unit. Your love unites you like nothing else in existence or fantasy can.
When they say it is better to have love and lost than to have never loved at all, it is because of moments like this one. We have our unique love, and that makes us better than if we had never found the characters who give our life that little bit of extra meaning. We have this moment, and it will never be lost.
This moment is eternal.
