I saw it last night, and I was the only person in the entire freaking theater. Granted, it was a 9:45 pm showing, so no kids were going to be there, but I thought I'd see at least one Brony,
Don't want to spoile the plot, so I'll just say the movie is VERY good. Go see it in theaters if you can, it's a lot if fun.

In hindsight I'm very unsure if this was intentional or not.

The 3 princesses being the only ones who aren't their normal colors, but rather shades of silver and grey. You know, stone colors.
And how this was revealed long before any plot info came out.

Well, I can't believe I didn't write about the movie yet.
I personally loved it. I thought it was fantastic, way better than I was so fearful of. That's not to say there weren't flaws, but it was definitely very fun. At the time of writing this, I've already seen it twice. I went last night as well, I was able to see it alone in the theater, that was really pleasant. I even had my seapony plush with me.
First off, I guess I'll get the bad out of the way. I think Applejack and Fluttershy needed to do a bit more, they needed a "moment". Perhaps AJ could have planned the fight herself. Or for Fluttershy, perhaps she could have had a bigger part with Fluttershy in the seapony scene, maybe split it between them. I also wish it wasn't just Pinkie who spoke against Twilight, I think it would have been more impactful of a scene if they all started arguing, instead of just the two of them. Also Storm King needed to be in the film more. Easily one of the best, most entertaining villains in the series. Oh, and the seaponies didn't say "shoo be doo". 0/10.
Then for the good. I thought the new characters were great, especially Tempest who I did not have high expectations for, I thought she was really good. Capper was quite fun too, and I can at least say that with a sigh of relief that I don't have to worry about shipping nonsense. He probably had my personal favorite song.
And with Rarity, I was really happy with her. I felt like she was given good screentime, and I really loved her moment of shine when she displayed her generosity by fixing Capper's coat, which in turn was one of the most important events in the film. The songs were all great, and the animation was definitely the highlight of the film I'd say. Oh, and I felt the jokes were fun.
All in all, leagues better than what I feared.

And it seems the movie has. for the most part, concluded its run with about $43 million in box office. With an estimated budget of around $10 million, that doesn't sound atrocious. It seems like they're expecting it to do better in home market too.

Not a bad run indeed. If you include the toy sales as well I'm sure they did quite well for what they invested. Now time to just wait for the 2nd one..

We should find out how the toys did in January, with the Q4 Hasbro report.
