Really hoping I stop having stupid random bouts of angst soon. I'd rather be productive, not thinking about how the bourgeoisie is oppressing fellow comrades like myself :/

For real though, I just hate how it seems I gotta be so much more serious when I type because you can't convey your tone of voice through written words. I hate being serious.

The fact that you've even recognized something about yourself that you want to change puts you ahead of a lot of people (young or otherwise), and the fact that you're actually trying to change it leaves many more in the dust.

I've got my own issues, of course; there's always something that I can do better or do more or do less. Nobody's perfect. My goal is to be the best version of me I can be... Though it's a goal I'll hopefully never truly reach.

Lol yeah. I would try to be the best me I could be, but literally no one (and when I say literally, I actually do mean it, including my whole family and all my friends) would like me. I wouldn't even like myself.

I'm not gonna pretend I have it the worst or anything, but I just feel I used to be more useful and happy. :/ fuck phases.

I hate how so many friends seem to have almost completely abandoned me.

Count your closest friends on your fingers. If you got at as far as "one," you should still consider yourself fortunate. Most friends come and go; the most worthwhile ones stay.

Besides: What makes you think you've been abandoned? Sometimes people get caught up in other things; have their own problems to deal with and lives to live. A friend I hadn't heard from since high school (roughly 17 years ago) managed to catch up with me in just the last few years.

The thing about people, is that we change. Over time our priorities, outlooks, and personalities are bound to, whether we like it or not. This can be the end of some friendships, yes, but it can also be the beginning of new ones.

I'm well aware of that, and I dislike it when people give me that whole "people change" thing as if I don't know it already. I've experienced change...a lot. And I have met new people...problem is they aren't helping things much and at times make me feel worse.

Thing is these are friends I genuinely value/valued.

I can't really think of a response to this because in the past I've frequently expressed how much of a non person I feel like here, it's just a pervasive feeling that won't go away and just saying in makes me feel like an asshole but then not saying just makes things worse.

But I do appreciate the fact you all took the time to respond.

I think we maybe got our wires crossed. I wasn't trying to tell you something I thought you didn't already know. It was an attempt-clumsy, apparently-to draw your attention away from the negative aspects, and toward the positive ones. Sorry to hear things aren't working out for you, though.

I'm sorry to hear that. Did you let them know how much you valued them?
