We tried watching Clueless together. It was awful. I was really disappointed since some of Jane Austin's other works, like Pride and Prejudice are among my favorites, and I enjoy modern adaptations of classic stories, for example MTV's Romeo and Juliette.

When I woke up this morning, I kept thinking of the scene in 2001 A Space Odyssey, where the proto-human...well, Twi is in my lap while writing this, and I don't wanna spoiler it for her, but that scene in the beginning. You know the one I mean if you've seen the movie. Maybe even if you haven't, since it's so closely linked with that piece by Strauss. Anyhoo, I think we'll try that one next.

The bigger you build the bonfire, the more darkness is revealed.

Every possession and every happiness is but lent by chance for an uncertain time, and may therefore be demanded back the next hour.

No, we didn't, but I don't think we'll watch it. We did watch all 3 hobbit movies last night, though. It was the first time seeing them for either of us. Well..I'd seen some of the first one so I knew it would be different from the book, and Twi's never read it, so she didn't have any expectations going in, but...wow.

There's nothing I can say about it which hasn't already been said by many others. Suffice it to say, neither of us liked it, though for different reasons, and Twi does want to give the book a try since I talked it up. We also had an interesting discussion about the Elf King, and Tauriel, so I guess it wasn't a totally wasted day.
