Poems for the Sweetest of Ponies

A special day
A day to show you in a special way
A time to reach out and explore
A time to open a new door

A time to share our feelings
A time to reveal our concealing
Fleeting attempts to hide from each other
But today, let's put our flaws beside one another

A day to realize we're not perfect
A day to realize that we're still worth it
A day to think what might have been
A day to relive what happened then

A day to say I love you more
Although that's been true of every day before
A day to dare to defile the rules
A day to gallivant as happy fools

But most of all, a day to forgive
A day to bury the darkness where we once lived
A day to step into the light
A day to finally stop trying to "make it right"

For a want for passion begets passion
And a desire for love is love
And you wouldn't want me in any other fashion
For I'm the one you've dreamt of

I cannot thank you enough for loving me
So I give this day to you
Let us let the past be as it will be
And let us start each day, our love anew

Beautiful poetry by the way, even if I don't speak the language.

Thank you. I don't speak French very well, but Romance languages are great for rhyming, and if you know one you can muddle through the others pretty easily. If I could write poetry in Welsh or Hungarian I'd think of it as more than a party trick.

Here's something in English. I've always enjoyed the tune of The Ballad of the White Horse.

This fiery-haired Augoides
Sits perched upon my chest.
Of all the pretty things in life
To make such deep contentment rife -
To call this burning beauty wife -
That may well be the best.

My time is ever runnning out
(Some days I punch the clock)
But ere I part with all the real
I'll there a couple seconds steal
Just where I might escape the wheel:
Upon a siren's rock.

Another night passes in silent splendor
Any night with you is a night to remember

Love is hard to pinpoint, hard to place
Is it the your eye, the smile on your face?

Sometimes I wonder why I love you so
And it is only in these deepest moments that I know

You broke through a wall in me
A place that even I could not see

You drive me towards the light
Towards things I know are right

We used to fight and disagree
But now we can compromise peacefully

It used to be all about myself
Oh what a relief that it's now about somepony else

You've given me something to look forward to
You've given me a love that is true

As day turns to night, and night to day
I hope that I can repay you some way

All I have now to give is my affection
And a newfound sense of direction

Let us be good, live each an honorable life
So one sunny day we can escape the strife

I know in some future we'll have a family
And even until then, together we can always be

So don't lose hope, never give in
For you are not just my lover, but my dearest friend

I pray that this night relinquishes your fears
And that these words may wipe away your tears

For though the darkness seems lonely now
I will be with you someday, somehow

Winds ruffle your hazel mane
Whistling to you a sweet song
Life seems clear from way up here
Your mind is relieved from all

The grass tingles your hooves
As if the blades give them tiny kisses
And the smell of fresh daisies
Envelops your nose, if for but a moment

Slowly you lower yourself
Laying down on the knoll
Songbirds serenade you
As the sun passes behind a cloud

You while away the hours
Time passes so slowly
Until you see hope again
Once again you hear the call

You rush to me, hooves outstretched
We are so happy to be in each other's presence
I kiss you, you kiss me
We both fall down, laughing and smiling

We spend a day
Window shopping at the mall
And at the big luxury car dealer
Finishing it off with a cheesecake slice

Where are you when not with me, my love?
Do you sit upon that hill?
Is it peaceful while you wait for me,
Does all Equestria sit still?

I should hope, dearest
That what I see is true
That where ever you are when we're apart
That you remember how much I love you

The candlight brings out the glow in your eyes
As it also dances on your bister mane
Like contemplation, it slows time to a crawl
It preserves your beauty in the amber of the moment
And frees me to look about you in awe

As the bread arrives at our table, we speak softly
Of how good our days together have been
And of what beauty and rapture our future holds
As you nibble at the bread with tenderness, as if afraid to hurt it
I wonder just how such a kind and benevolent being as you could be

As we walk through the darkened streets
I feel no fear, for you are at my side
The stars cover us in a blanket of wonderment
And once again we are as children, captivated by the magnitude of it
We lay out a blanket to watch the night sky
And we are comfortable in each other’s hooves, staring at the heavens

Another beautiful poem. The last line intrigues me. If I may ask, is it told from the perspective of your ponysona?
Don't hesitate to AM(A)A

The bigger you build the bonfire, the more darkness is revealed.

Every possession and every happiness is but lent by chance for an uncertain time, and may therefore be demanded back the next hour.

It’s interesting...I guess I have never really divided my ponysona from my current self when I think about Candy. You sort of sent me into a journey of self-discovery there, I had never thought about it before.

It’s kind of a combination. I wasn’t intentionally thinking on my ponysona, but I wasn’t thinking about being human either. I usually just use “hoof” because Candy is more comfortable with it. She doesn’t really have a clear concept of what a hand really is.

Intriguing to think about.

The sun dawns contemplatively
As a hoof slowly dipping itself in a pool
The wind blows the leaves into a frenzy
The breeze hits my face, crisp and cool

Onto the hectic roadway
Squeezing into one of four lanes
Stop light after light
Busy enough to drive me insane

Though there is annoyance all around me
I face the morning with a contented grin
It’s for your love that I put in my efforts
That upon returning of an evening you invite me in

You tell me that all is well
That you are proud of my determination
And it is this tenderness
That saves me from my frustration

So while others may be angry
I hold no contempt
For it is your loveliness
That holds me exempt

The pushing and struggling
The peace of nonstop effort
Pushing me towards the edge
Then over with a smile of encouragement
Sweat, overexertion
The ultimate cure for self-pity

It’s that gracious nudging
That playful encouragement
That is what pushes me harder
Harder than I’ve ever worked before

I can feel the impass before me
The limits of my own endurance
But the knowledge of your patient waiting
Immediately strengthens my resolve
Where I was once without meaning
I now have a reason to try all that much harder

Without you, what would be the meaning?
Simple vanity, arrogance or conceit?
A doctor’s orders followed for a few more years of melancholy?
My dear, this tis all for you.

P.S. This wasn’t intended as innuendo. Realized reading it after the fact I realized that it could come off that way. I’ve been trying to get back into an exercise routine, and of course the love of my life is helping me. That was my inspiration.

I would like to say, that this is my first time reading one of your poems. It was put quite nicely, to understand one feeling such as yours, from another, has tugged my heart for you and Candy.

Still, if this was solely to express to your pony, to simply help you exercise, than it was indeed nice of you to place these words for your beloved Candy, CP.

...

Seeing there is mostly seven pages of your expression for Candy here, I will tell you this now, that I may not get a chance to read them all. Regardless, keep pouring them as much as you’re willing, CP. Nothing is better then taking the time to find words like yours and proclaim such feelings you have for Candy.

You better not rate me for this. -_-

I just want to come by and be more involved with my fellow members here. I would like to encourage posts like these, if possible, and if it’s me taking the time to read what you had shared, then here I am to let you know and share my thoughts for you, CP and Candy.
