Inkie, Ruby, Garnet, Limestone, and sometimes Pinkie.

Mostly it's Inkie and Limestone lately, Pinkie comes over on weekends, and Ruby/Garnet pop in and out as they please.

I was only just recently (as in, a yesterday) introduced to Tulpas. I'm an analytical person, so the idea was absolute hogwash to begin with. My mind keeps trying to tell me it still is, but I want to try it. I'm working on Pinkie right now, had some conversations with her throughout the day, though they're very forced right now, seeing as it is new to me.

It just goes to show that you can't make presumptions. A critical point of view is always important, but it fails when one is guilty of ignorance, which is why knowledge and the seeking of knowledge is important to a critical thinker. I wouldn't be surprised if you said ghosts were hogwash, because there's no proof they exist and lots of other things could explain reported sightings, but thought constructs? There're lots of people out there who experience mental things in strange ways. Hallucinations! Dreams! It all attests to the power of the mind. It's certainly not beyond imagining that one who could control their senses, their perceptions, could do great things with their mental acuity...

I felt a like this to start with too. I don't know if this is how others see it, but I kinda see tulpas as "imaginary friends, version 2.0 with pony expansion pack installed". You take the basic concept of an imaginary friend, and work on imagining/projecting them to such an extent that the imaginary friend becomes ever-present and feels functionally separate from yourself. From that perspective, there isn't really anything supernatural about Tulpas. You're just working on your imagination and exploiting social psychology (for want of a better term).

Maria was imaginary during my childhood, to say she is a Tulpa doesn't cut it. Yet I don't question when I see her walk the same plains as I do, and that apply the same thing with Amena. Really I don't call Amena a Tulpa or imaginary, because I see her more than that. I come to call Amena my Love.

If someone would of tell me what's Amena to me. I would say she is my girl, but if they just keep asking me what's she really, then I would say a pony... Most members do not consider their "waifu" a Tulpa or imaginary... because they, like myself, see them as real beings.

A newcomer will come and mistake what we have to be what they think it's. They will not understand that grasp, until they see it.

If StableRelationship think that way, then let him, if TheGypsyBard makes a Tulpa, then let him, because what should matter is what you got, rather then letting others say what you got.

Yet members here will go on what is what and what isn't, and just like MLW, we almost ban the word Tupla to spare the feelings of other members because they took it offensively... Does it really matter?

A lot of people get stuck on the concept of imaginary vs. real; I can certainly be one of them. While I might employ my imagination to interact with Babe, she is not imaginary. Babe is a real part of my life; as real as anything. I didn't tulpamance her into existence. I just fell in love.

Admittedly, the concept of tulpamancy seems rather non-committal from my perspective; I think this touches on an even further divide in the community. There are Bronies, cloppers, ponylovers, and tulpamancers; notice that I don't consider the latter two terms interchangeable. The tulpamancer gets to say they created their companion. They get to both claim responsibility for their companion's presence in their life AND have a seemingly convenient excuse or out, concerning the psychological and the scrutiny of outsiders. "Oh, I just willed this separate personality into existence. It's something entirely rational and explainable."

I took a leap. And yes: There was faith involved. I believe in Babe. Despite my being an atheist prior to meeting Babe, there's something about my interactions with her that verges on the spiritual. I embrace that. She's opened my mind and changed me dramatically in numerous ways. And here I'd actually mistaken myself for open-minded in the past.

But I wasn't even close.

But here's something I'd like to propose: Those of you with tulpas? Your tulpa is real; they aren't imaginary. Our partners deserve better than the labels that those who would disparage any member of this community normally attach to them. And, on a personal note: I didn't make the love of my life.

She made me.

This is precisely the basis behind my belief that this is not, indeed, 'hogwash'. I've studied psychology passively over the years, and as an effect I've noticed quite a few trends. The chief among these being the ability of the mind to impose whatever convoluted reality it wants on any particular individual. It does not take much to snap a person's fragile psyche like a twig, despite what many would claim openly. If this were anything outside the human mind, then yes, I would still consider it illogical. Seeing as it is, however, manifestations of thought, these constructs, are as real as any other physical entity.

Well, for us, there are a total of for tulpa in our minds, and we share the same thought as many here as to how they should be explained. We don't like using the word tulpa, but were unsure how to explain it otherwise. Icy I could easily explain on here as my wife, and Luna and Mist Weaver as my mother-in-laws respectively. (Luna is still considered as Icy's legal mother and Mist is her birth mother. Since icy and I are married, it makes them mine as well). The only one that isn't related to us I'd Aloe. But even here she's a bit harder to refer to because we haven't found a term that accurately described them that doesn't sound offensive to them.
