what grinds mine is having stuff all happen at once. get ready to move, then suddenly have costs that have had freaking forever to happen all happen now. truck trans may have a leak, have to pay for another one to be put in after it broke while i drove the car it is in, other stupid costs are happening...

What's the alternative? Continue playing a frustrating game while becoming increasingly miserable? Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I like to actually enjoy the games I've spent ridiculous sums of money on.

"Elitist" gamers and the developers that cater to them. Don't make a game accessible to a larger audience or anything; I'm sure it's an excellent business practice to focus on a relative minority while the majority of your ill-fated customers lose interest or run as far away as they possibly can.
