Fandom Essentials.
#1
Some time ago, a certain individual asked me to put together a list of stuff from the fandom that I was aware of for the sake of having it. When I had a few hours to myself, I listened to some good ol' stuff and pieced this list together. What follows is a shitton of stuff produced by the MLP fandom for you guys to enjoy. So... enjoy.

--------------------------------------------------------

Are you feeling burned out? Tired of the fandom? You think you've seen everything? Well. Regardless of whether or not you've seen everything, I'm going to put some essentials here, anyway. Stuff that you can enjoy. Stuff that will ignite the spark of friendship in your hearts, until it becomes a great, roaring flame. YOUR BODY IS NOT READY FOR THIS.

Should you desire to download anything, Youtube-MP3 is my go-to for music, and Keepvid is reportedly safe despite the warnings my computer gives me.

That being said, let's get started. There may be multiple links under each section.

P.S. - READ THE COMMENTS AND DESCRIPTION OF EVERY VIDEO YOU DECIDE TO CLICK ON. Some of them are inspiring or cool or something. Just saying.

*****MUSIC*****
There's a tremendous amount of music out there for MLP, by the fans and even for the show itself. Here, I list some really cool songs. So, slap on a pair of headphones, and then go on a journey!

***DANIEL INGRAM***
It would be a pity to forget amidst all the fanbase's work that Daniel Ingram has also worked on songs for this show.

So, let's kick it off with the intro.

Ahh, we all remember the song that started it all, don't we? Besides the intro. Giggle at the Ghosties is the first song Pinkie sings, and at what a time, too! That crazy mare.

One of Daniel's better songs - easily - is the Find a Pet song. There's a nice balance of tone here, what with Fluttershy being all sweet, and Rainbow being all hardcore. You know how it is. Just take a listen to the little melodies in the background as they enhance the lyrics!

Winter Wrap-Up, Winter Wrap-Up! Let's finish our holiday cheer! Yeah, who didn't have this one stuck in their head for, like, ever? It's a damn catchy song. Take a trip down nostalgia lane as you take a listen to this song from Season 1.

The other really catchy song - which happens to fit really well with Winter Wrap-Up - was At the Gala. Remember the solos they all had, and the many voices? Yep, that's all here.

Perhaps the show's most powerful song, This Day Aria, really set the mood for Season 2's finale. Poor Princess Cadance - she may have won the day in the end, but one can only speculate how much fear and dread she held in her heart before Shining was safe in her hooves once again.

Speaking of powerful songs, but on a much more light-hearted note, do you all remember Rarity's Art of the Dress from Season 1? A clever song, really.

And speaking of Rarity, another of her songs - Becoming Popular - is cute, too. Kinda reminds me of Art of the Dress, and surely not as good, but still a cool song.

Moving on, Season 2's last song, Love is in Bloom was a nice upbeat song compared to the drama that came beforehand. And, we got to see Rarity go nuts over the flowers.

Everyone remembers Pinkie's songs, but there may be way more songs than you think there are. She sings a LOT of mini-songs, like You've Gotta Share, her Gala Fantasy song, her Ticket to the Gala song, her Cupcakes song, Hop, Skip and Jump, the Pony Pokey, the Singing Telegram, her little song about being at the Grand Galloping Gala, her Monthiversary song, her Piggy Dance song, her Cranky Doodle Donkey song, her Welcome to Ponyville song for Cranky, her Cranky Doodle Joy song at the end of that episode, and her Evil Enchantress song. It's a lot, isn't it?

Speaking of Evil Enchantress, Flutterguy sang it too.

Wow, that's a lot of songs Daniel has written. And that's not even all of them! I think I'm gonna wrap up this list with some popular ones. First, here's B.B.B.F.F. and its reprise.

But, this is just the beginning, so Smile, Smile, Smile as you continue to scroll down!

***PONYPHONIC***
Kicking off our fan-made music list is a group called Ponyphonic. These guys and gals have a real ear for music, and they've produced some truly heart-wrenching stuff. Get out your tissues, because you're going to cry yourself to sleep tonight.

To start us off, let's show a little love for the Princess of the Night, Princess Luna. Here's a song by Ponyphonic called The Moon Rises, where Princess Luna becomes Nightmare Moon out of envy for her older sister. How neglected she must have felt to have turned on her own kingdom. The poor, poor Princess.

Now, I actually prefer the original over the one above, but that one had a PMV, so I linked it first.

But, so many people in the fanbase love, love, love Princess Luna. Don't get me wrong - she's a great Princess - but poor Princess Celestia is neglected. Well, not by Ponyphonic, they're not! As evidenced by their song, Lullaby for a Princess. A truly beautiful piece, it's easily one of my favorite songs of the fandom.

***TLT, WT, MTM, AND MORE***
This guy's a musician who knows music pretty well. Even if he can be a liiittle tonedeaf sometimes.

Just like we're doing right now, he remembers the Good ol' Days. So, that's the song we're starting with.

And speaking of remembering the good ol' days, do you remember what happened in September? Tombstone might not, but here's a video about it.

But, don't think that just because Tombstone kills everypony that he can't love somepony. Just take a look at what happened back in gradeschool!

And, don't think he can't be a sympathetic guy. Just look at what he wrote for Screw Loose.

Moving back into the darker places, though, there are lots of neat, dark things in this fandom. Like the Rainbow Factory. Somepony would be hard-pressed to escape this place. One would wonder what sort of sick, deprived individual would work at such a place... but, they're not all bad. Some of them have awoken to the true horror of their actions, and sought a way out of the bramble.

Speaking of nightmarish things, Nightmare Night has become a fun holiday now that Princess Luna is back. Here's a rap about it!

Regardless of whether or not you like rap, it's gonna exist. Mic's gonna follow his dream. That's what they told Carrot Top, after all.

And if you really want to see what Mic can do when it comes to rap, just ask anyone who knows - he's performed the Sonic Rhyme-Boom before.

I hope you're not petrified of his epic rapping skills. I know, it's a lot to take in, but just take a breather.

He might be really, really good, but he thanks you for where he is now anyway. Pat yourself on the back - you helped! He's been dreamin' of doing this, and thanks to all of those who believed in him... he's there.

But if you don't like rap, that's not all Mic does. He has a really great voice for singing! Just take a listen to this deceptively happy Russian gypsy jazz rendition of Pinkie's Brew.

***YELLING AT CATS***
Those guys aren't the only ones who do rap. Just ask Yelling at Cats, who has a number of neat pony-related raps.

Some of his raps are pretty dark, but he does some light-hearted, motivational stuff too. What a cute song that is - Hearts and Hooves. Hilariously enough, while it can be taken figuratively to anyone else, it can be taken quite literally for a tulpamancer.

But, if playing by the rules isn't your thing, Yelling at Cats is one smooth criminal. Yeah, really. They say he's wanted in Equestria, for things like flaunting to Celestia and taunting to the best of ya. Yep, he's in a real mess alright.

But if anypony's in a mess, it's Twilight. Just look at what the notion of magic kindergarten did to her.

***AVIATORS***
He's another pony musician. Has some cool stuff.

This guy was in one of YAC's songs. Did you like his voice? Well, he does his own music too. And, YAC was in one of his songs. Specifically, Never Back Down is the song of his YAC was in.

He seems to excel with instrumentals, but he does vocalwork just fine, too. Try Fear of Flight, by Aviators. Hmm, "Aviators" having a song called Fear of Flight... hehe.

But hey, if you don't like those songs of his, trust me, he has a lot of stuff, so make sure you give him a second chance.

***DBPONY***
There is no doubt, dBPony is easily one of the best musicians in the fandom, He knows his music. Even if his drumbeats can be a little off-rhythm, or maybe he gets a little too into speaking and off of singing sometimes, he's got some serious skill.

A song of his was featured on EQD recently, featuring one of his best songs yet, featuring our favorite villain (SHUT UP, HE'S YOUR FAVORITE WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT), Daddy Discord. Don't be off-put by the vocals at the beginning - it gets really good. He shreds those strings.

Speaking of hardcore stuff, dBPony would be the guy to make an awesome song about Rainbow's dream to become a Wonderbolt.

Intense stuff isn't all he does, though. I really like a lot of dBPony's more calm songs. Try this one, a cute little song about Applebloom lamenting over her lack of a cutie mark, dubbed Miles.

Come to think of it, he seems to do a lot of young pony-related stuff. Take Lessons or Oh, Sweetie Belle for example. I suppose it only makes sense, since his OC is a colt.

***FEATHER***
Feather is a supremely talented vocalist. Don't you doubt that for even a second.

Remember the song from Rainbow Dash Presents: My Little Dashie? Well, she did a cover of that song. Hilariously enough, it's quite relevant to the ponylover community! Hehehehehehahahahah.

She did another song related to Rainbow Dash. It's a lullaby, based on Baby Mine (remember, the song from Dumbo that makes everyone cry?), and it's sung from mother to daughter. Dashie Mine is its name.

Ever wonder how Pinkie felt during her existential crisis in Too Many Pinkie Pies? Well, the world is full of mad mares, and this Mad World rewrite is sure to tug at your heartstrings.

If you're a fan of rap and want a little tug on your heartstrings, Feather was featured in a rap song called Apples of my Eye, sung from the point of view of Granny Smith. Forget if you don't like rap, this song is worth a listen - it's very touching.

Anyone here think Big Mac and Fluttershy look cute together? Well, Feather did a song about it. It's called, "Hey, Big Mac."

To close up Feather's section, she did a rendition of Silent Night with tribute to Princess Luna! Just put this on nice and softly, lie back, shut your eyes, and take a listen.

***VINYL SCRATCH***
Everypony knows about the up-and-coming DJ, Vinyl Scratch. Did you know she made music in the real world, too? Well, she does!

To get a good idea of her style, you should listen to her alone, but she does a damn good job with her buddy-buddy, Octavia. In more ways than one, apparently, according to this video, which was recorded live at generic auditorium six.

If that bass drop wasn't enough for you, there's a -lot- more where that came from. Lights are around, and Vinyl loves the attention. Isn't that right, Vinyl?

Indeed, she's not just another girl. Vinyl can be poetic. Just take a listen to her song, Hey Sound, where she's feeling lost and alone, but calls out for music to comfort her, and it answers her call. That's poetic, if you ask me.

Like her voice? If you can't get enough of Vinyl's vocals, you'll like Into the Ocean. Let the sound flood over you.

But hey, if you're not wet from that last song, and if you just wanna relax and listen to some smooth beats without vocals, she does that too. You'll be drowned in love for this song, here, if you like smooth dubstep.

***MANDOPONY***
He's the brony musician we all know and love! Right? Alright, well, I love him. He's a really cool guy - I spoke with him once. Talented musician, kind man, the works. Each one of his songs has its own unique feel to it, and I admire that greatly about his work.

He writes some really tear-jerking stuff. Relatable stuff. To kick us off, let's take a look at a song about Alicorn Twilight, called When I Find My Wings. Gorgeous song.

Mando's been through a lot, being the butt of a lot of cruel jokes. He's a sensitive guy, so it's truly unfortunate that he was picked at by trolls. Thankfully, though, he's been loyal to the fanbase, and I'm thankful that he seems to be feeling better.

He even did a song for Rainbow's fictional counterpart, Daring Do! I wouldn't want to be her, though - the adventures of Daring Do sound like they'd be pretty intense.

But don't think he can't be gentle with his song-writing. That's what he did for Fluttershy in his song, Kindness.

He's also done some songs for Princess Luna, including I Am No Hero and Song of the Night. Good stuff.

When you can take a name and play with it to come up with clever lyrics to a song, that's one sign of a good writer. He did that with Shining Armor.

If you have a thing for really hardcore stuff, this is something completely unexpected out of Mandopony - a THRASH song. And boy, does he thrash. You won't be able to stop listening. It will control you, and you will love it.

To close off Mando's section on this thread, lemme post one of my favorite songs of his - Home - a song about our favorite evil enchantress, Zecora.

***BRONYFIED***
I love metal. I really do. I mean, I play Doom, for Sisters' sake. And nopony - NOPONY - mutes Doom. So, here's an artist who appreciates some good metal.

To kick us off, here's a metal medley of songs from the show. It's called My Little Metal Medley. Sounds about right, doesn't it?

Didja like that one? Well, MLP simply wouldn't be the same without the fandom. So, here's a medley of songs from the fandom, called the Bronyfied Metal Medley.

Bronyfied also has some original songs. Give No One Leaves the Hive, Fight for the Crystal Empire, and Flower of the Season a listen.

Do you get bored? Well, Bronyfied does from time to time. This is what happens when Bronyfied gets bored -

Trolling for Eggheads just became headbangworthy. Now that's what I call (⌐■_■) Twilightvicious.

He also covers some songs from the show... like some sung by Fluttershy, including So Many Wonders and Hush Now, Quiet Now.

His metal cover of Winter Wrap-Up was pretty cool. Another song from the show he did was Becoming Popular, under the name, "The Pony Everypony Should Pony Pony." How whimsical.

He's also done some of Pinkie's songs, like Pinkie's Parasprite song, her Singing Telegram, and the one where she has a shotgun and you'd better run faaaar away. Wait a minute...

***RHYTHM IS MAGIC***
I'm not exactly sure what the deal with Rhythm is Magic is, anyway. Seems like multiple people do these videos. Is it like a trend or something, like DROP IT! or Ponylicious? In any case, here're a few Rhythm is Magic videos in their own section.

Rarity may be fair at Crochet, but she's a straight-up golf genius. Guess you could say she's pretty good at getting... (⌐■_■) foals in one.

AJ's really strong, herself. I mean, she's AJ. Of course she's strong. Just check out how she knocks down all those bucking bags.

AJ and Rainbow are very easy to entertain. Just give them a see-saw and watch what they do with it.

Ever see Twilight try to play a trumpet? It's laughable! But, I'm not sure if I should be watching Twilight here to see if she'll give up or rage or something, or Pinkie Pie to see if she'll barf at any time. I mean, seriously, dat appetite. In any case, here's Peckish Pony.

And here's all at once. Or, at least in one video. Go nuts.

***OTHER ARTISTS***
There is really no limit to the amount of awesome stuff this fanbase puts out. NEVER FORGET IT. So, here's a collection of other random songs from all over the fanbase.

To kick off our highly motivational list of other artists, let's start with Join the Herd. Does it remind you of your early feelings? Does it bring back awkward memories? Feels good, don't it?

But joining the herd simply isn't enough. You should be proud to be a brony, and that's what this song's about.

If simply being proud isn't enough, you can do even better by bragging about your pony swag. But, if even -that- isn't enough, there's a longer version of that rap with many more artists from all over the net.

Moving into the jivey territory, good swing is sure to make you rock with dance fever. Didja think Octavia only did classical? Pfft. She's classier than that. That being said... swing, 'Tavi, swing!

Some of us just can't get enough of the Royal Sisters and their epic storyline. Here's an inspiring anthem for the New Lunar Republic. MEIN LEBEN FÜR DEM MOND!! BEREITEN SIE DIE WAFFEN!! DIE SONNE STIRBT HEUTE!!!

*Ahem*. Excuse me (and my google translate German).

Ever want to hear Winter Wrap-Up and At the Gala together? Well, this mash-up by Saltlakrits is sure to satisfy.

But, if you can't get enough Princess Luna stuff, here's yet another song for her. It's called Deae Lunae, which is latin for something. They did a laser show for this song at Bronycon at some point, I think, but I've never attended a Bronycon, so... maybe one of you guys remember it.

For those of you who like humans, you'll find that Lyra agrees. That's what her song, Anthropology, is about. It's only a storyboard right now, but it looks like it'd be especially cool if fully animated.

Yet another upbeat thing, here's an upbeat 'ponybeat' medley of songs from the show. Take a trip down nostalgia lane - again - with this epic mix.

To close off our section for music, let's end like we started, but way more epicly - with the intro. An Alex S. remix of the intro. For those of you who don't know Alex S., he's a really cool dubstep artist with a knack for knowing what notes or beats or whatever to put where. This is his take on the intro to MLP:FiM.

*****ANIMATION*****
Part of the cool stuff in this show is the animation. There are lots of fan animations that had us all laughing, crying, or something. So, here's a collection of awesome animation.

Let's kick it off with an animation that made us all laugh and shout with joy - Derpy's appearance in The Last Roundup! And, just for the heck of it, there are chat reactions alongside the video. Just watching them makes me remember my own reaction, which was essentially along the lines of 'holy sh*t, the child of the fandom has been accepted as canon.'

But, this moment wouldn't last, because they had to change Derpy. The poor mare. I think it says a lot when people have to change 'imperfect' or 'unacceptable' things in order to meet the norm. This famous video, which I'm sure you're all familiar with, speaks volumes about that notion. It's a real tearjerker, it is. So, have a watch, and remember what happened...

For a one-two punch, here's something else that's really sad about Princess Luna. Ahh, nostalgia... I remember seeing this video a long time ago.

But, it's okay, because we're all Princess Luna's children of the night. And, as we love her, she loves us. We know it. She knows it. And this is the needn't-be-introduced video with the haunting imagery and music that's sure to send chills down your spine every time.

Moving away from all the sad and dark stuff, have any of you heard of My Little Derpy? Yeah, it's a thing. There are currently multiple episodes out, including episode one, episode two, episode three, and episode four, part one. Enjoy their whimsicality - I know I did!

Now, we're all familiar with the Ponylicious series. A single one consists of a pony saying their name in the ponylicious format. There are many out at the moment, including Twilight's, Rainbow's, Octavia's, Fluttershy's, Pinkie's, and the list goes on and on.

Everyone's familiar with the When I'm x trend that was floating around a while back. If you're not, you can find a number of videos on it... like When I'm Derpy, When I'm Chaotic, When I'm Rhyming, When I'm Princess, When I'm A Trophy Wife, and so on.

Speaking of ponylicious, bronies animated more of Tara's f*ckery with Twilight Sparkle's message to bronies. Oh, when does it end...

If you thought Smile, Smile, Smile was a happy song... it still is. But Smile HD is going to ruin it for you. Oh, but it's such fun. This video here contains some pretty nice animation, but be warned... it's bloody.

Something that came out recently - something we all know and love - was the first episode of Button's Adventures. Dat brainfreeze.

This is a screensaver.

Now, everyone knows about Rainbow Dash Presents. Right? Rainbow Dash tells her own versions of famous fanfictions, like the Rainbow Factory, Bubbles, Cupcakes, Spiderses, Haunting Nightmare, Somewhere Only We Know, A Beautiful Day in Equestria, and My Little Dashie. Lots of awesome humor in these videos.

This here is a short, cool animation with some cool stuff in it related to DotA 2. Which, I belive stands for Defense of the Ancients. It's a game, I think.

There are lots of 're-enacted by ponies' videos, including one for Pokemon, Yugioh, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Watchmen, The Matrix, The Avengers, DBZ, various things outta Nintendo, Lord of the Rings... the list goes on.

Snowdrop is a fan animation that came out relatively recently about a little blind filly and her potential to do great things. I have my criticisms, but the animation is beautiful, and the story is cute.

We all know of the infamous .MOV series, with its shameless perversion of the characters we all know and love. That's why it's so hilarious! The series is complete, with APPLE.MOV being the first, DRESS.MOV being the second, SHED.MOV being the third, SPIKE.MOV falling between third and forth, MAGIC.MOV being the forth, PARTY.MOV being the fifth, and SWAG.MOV being the sixth. This series is potentially offensive to sensitive individuals. You have been warned. I, however, shall go frolic amidst the f*ckery.Whee!

Alternatively, here're all seven in a single video: PONY.MOV

For you Doctor Who fans, there was an animation out about Derpy and the Doctor. It's pretty cool, even if I know nothing about the Doctor. And, dat theme at the end. DAT THEME. :| mmmm.

Speaking of crossovers, ever hear of Turnabout Storm? This is one cool crossover, with Phoenix Wright. Rainbow Dash is convicted of murder, and it's up to Phoenix to defend her in court. Super dramatic. Here's part one, part two, part three, and part four.

All of you have probably seen the fan-made episode, Double Rainboom. It was pretty cool, so you should check it out if you haven't seen it, or if you want to see it again.

Everyone knows about the Fluffle Puff's fuzziness. I have no idea what the hell it is, but apparently, it's cute or something. And, the stories are told by imagery and stuff! Which is cool. So, here's Just Another Day, Appleperrrrr, Detective, Kiss Kiss, Bubbles, and PFUDoR. Go nuts.

There's an epic pony time series out, too. The only ones I know of right now are Epic Cupcake Time, Epic Pie Time, and Epic Wub Time: Musicians of Ponyville. Wub wub, mothaf*cka!

Everyone knows about Friendship is Witchcraft, right? Well, if you don't, it's a clever series with some great humor. Right now episode one, episode two, episode three, episode four, episode five, episode six, episode seven, episode eight, and episode nine are the only ones out right now.

Finally, we come to the end of our section on videos. We'll close with two of the most famous videos in the brony community: Ponies: The Anthology, and Ponies: The Anthology II. I needn't introduce them.

Well, that's my list. It's definitely not a complete list, so if you have anything to add, go and post about it below! But, any time you're bored, or any time you doubt the amount of awesome stuff in this fandom, come back here... remember... remember the laughter... remember the tears... and rejoice.

Let me know if you need anything. I'm here to help.

As I've really struggled to keep up with all of the different fanworks flying around out there, this is a very useful list for me. Thank you so much for taking the time to put it up, and with such extensive notes too!

I haven't yet read through this entire thing since I only just remembered it was here, but I did notice one thing missing. Part 5/4 was released quite a while back, and yup, that's how it's numbered.

Here's a link.

When I have just a bit more time on my hands, I'll give this thing a thorough looking-through! Nerdy Twist
